I don't want anyone making negative generalizations of any fandom in this thread. There will be no tolerance for that.
X, Reddit, TikTok, or whatever it is... These platforms are built on algorithms that feed you similar content to what you've been engaging with. When you see more and more of such content, your worldview will be influenced adversely, affecting how you perceive a fandom or community.
I just wanted to highlight something valuable lidora shared today:
Display MoreYes, there is toxic part to every fandom with many-many toxic users. It is big for armys because there are a lot of us out there. But if you want good interactions then you have to filter. There are many nice armys but when you focus on the bad you get swamped by that and don't see the good. Go into positive threads and interact sometimes with positive content and positive armys, your feed will thank you and your mind will thank you.
Just one note. I do agree with you that many people should not go to the extremes. And I judge them too but most of the times I don't have the energy to figh with lost cases. A sad fact is though that even without being rude many fans will be attacked for their fandoms because for example: an army hurt a bunny, then that bunny goes for another army and that another army goes for another bunny. Etc.
One of the most important things are to remember the exact user, not the fandom, you had a fight with.
And try to go into threads with positive content and do get to know the positive people.
And lastly, only fight when there is a bad will, not just a simple disagreement. Then just disagree.
I for one am sad for no matter how many good content I try to make or interact with, I don't seem to be here for people. I don't get replies. I don't get comments. But then I have one disagreement (I truly don't have a lot, I had just one yesterday but it was the first in months) and I am a whole fandom and etc. It would be good to be myself and be judged for myself and sometimes it would be great to be seen for what I enjoy too. But people are highstrung on drama and see fight not only where it is (because I know it is there I am not blind), but then in other places too where people just want to discuss and not really fight.
I appreciate lidora for saying this because it's how I feel.
A lot of you don't care to contribute unless there's a semblance of disagreement for you to partake in. You guys come in here with a "disagree first, ask questions later" mentality as if "being right" and proving someone else "wrong" feeds your ego and gives you a wild rush of dopamine. It's absolutely antisocial and at times narcissistic and sociopathic.
