Well, MHJ had her own share of controversies over the years. She's never been a popular figure because of her kind personality, but because of her mistakes and genious. She's always been such a figure, the actual boss bitch. And I'm here for it, I took a simbolic sit beside her.
She's not an angel and free of sin, but she is one of the few women who actually made her own way up to the power chairs. She threatens men with her power and they are actually scared, it's so fun to watch. MHJ created the most relevant group of a generation. Those korean CEO's can't stand a woman being as shady and powerful as they are and, God damn it, she so is. She is the actual BOSS BITCH!
I love her for defending her idea. She created NJ inspired by many past acts, it's true. So what? The wheel turns, what's old becomes new and trendy again and so goes on. People are such hypocrites. She is stading up for herself, for her work. She knows her value and will not lower her head. What a great example for the next women in the kpop industry, any indutry, really.
I'm probably in the camp of slightly leaning towards MHJ.
I'm not going to absolve MHJ for all her faults. I do think she is unprofessional, and she acts like a creative director instead of a CEO. She runs her company like how SM did back in the day where every single decision passed through LSM. I think it makes sense considering her roots.
However, I think MHJ gets more hate than warranted by the international fans. The most egregious one I see by international Kpop fans is about MHJ being a pedo.
I also see a lot of divergence in opinion between Korean GP and international Kpop fans. I blame it on the fact that Korean is hard to translate especially when you are speaking informally like MHJ does. She speaks like a teenager, and she uses a lot of slangs. She also rambles a lot. Korean can be confusing to learn, because it is so context dependent. The intent of the sentence can change depending on how you say it. There is a understanding of shared experience and cultural nuance that just can't be taught.
In terms of Korean GP, NJ was a bit unique in that they were able to capture the 30s crowd. Kpop is considered young people music in Korea. There is an expectation that most young people will grow out of it, and it usually bears out. Usually, the younger Koreans transition to foreign music, trot, K-hip hop/r&b, ballads, etc. The clever part about MHJ's strategy was that she was able to capture a wider range of Korean fans in terms of age and gender.
She's overhated.
Mhj is actually not money hungry and she does not believes in hoarding wealth like other hybe executives.
