I've never seen a kpop group have to defend their success more than Twice

  • They are successful but they are not mega-successful like Blackpink, they had a few good hits early on in their career but after that, they fizzled out. They do have a very loyal and nice fandom though, there is barely any solo stanning and toxicity with onces. Either way they still do big on tours, so they are still a top 5 group.

But aren't they the highest selling girl group ever?

  • It's a kind of funny because Twice have so much better quaulity and standard than any of the groups that have debuted the last couple of years. But the kids are desparate to make "their" groups better than to rest so they attack the former nr 1.

But it's pretty normal cycle, 3-4 years on top, peaking and going down if you look at groups like Girls' Generation, K-ara, 2NE1 .

  • TWICE is habitually belittled by kpop fans because they are mostly very young, and consequentially, often have little life experience or context to accurately judge meaning and value, often placing near total weight on "present trendiness" as singular determinate, like a mole who can only perceive mere inches in front of him, the totality of his world.

Often they are completely ignorant of the inevitable fleeting nature of trend, hype, and the trappings of fame, the inevitable rise and fall of success and fortune, and in general the inevitable certainty of life that nothing stays as it was, you will not be as you are forever.

In the myopia of youth, they do not understand the nature of worth or value of kpop groups in the context of passing time, and that past accomplishments, successes, highs, and cultural relevance and importance of any group are not erased when they inevitably give way to the future players who take their turn in the hype cycle. They do not accurately value perhaps the most important indicator of what it actually means to be "successful" as a kpop group, again, myopically only focusing on the here and now in a narrow frame of what is currently "hot", in disregard of the true value of long term success and also, in disregard of the importance of contextual legacy.

TWICE is, without qualification, one of the most consequential groups in all of kpop history. They are the nation's girl group of their generation, the best selling kpop girl group of all time, and along with BLACKPINK and BTS, the foremost leaders of 3rd gen.

They spurned an entire period Renaissance of cute girl groups during the first half of 3rd generation. They were a cultural phenomenon of Korean Pop culture and Hallyu, becoming household names among the Korean public, with National hit that gave comfort and happiness to fans and non fans alike, even reaching such heights as to be used in political demonstrations.

While their period of peak Korean success is in the past, they have been able to achieve a longevity of scale the likes of which no girl group thus has matched, now in their 8th year, all members in tact and active, selling our stadiums globally at a scale only BLACKPINK can compare with, with a financial footprint that nearly single handedly supports the success of the entirety of JYP Entertainment. They make more money on an ongoing basis then any other girl group other than their comparable peer BLACKPINK.

To disregard TWICE's near singular success is a fantasy.

It ignores the very foundations of what it means to be "a success" in any real and lasting capacity.

TWICE has achieved what other girl groups and their companies hope to be able to replicate. Yes, hit that immediate high. But even more than that, make it last beyond the trendiness and turn it into something that is an ongoing success on a global scale.

TWICE did it. They are still doing it.

Their detractors are mistaken. Those that discount them are either misguided in their youth and naivety, or, perhaps, just simply wrong.

  • So they're the highest-selling girl group, but somehow not "mega-successful."

Are you trying to dictate what I believe in my mind user popper of KS? are you the dictator of what I believe? in your mind they might be mega successful. That is not my belief. Popper KS never quote me again if you are going to dictate my mind like a mind controller. okay thank you and god bless.
