They have no fresh ideas at YG Entertainment. Everything is just recycled and eventually, that gets boring. Even if they are trying to replicate 2ne1's concept and sound for babymonster, it's clearly not working.

What differenciate BP from 2NE1 is from the influence of their music
2NE1 music have always had a lot of techno influence
while YG gave Blackpink an identity who's much more influence by hip hop than 2NE1 was
And It's the same for Baby Monster, they are heavily influence by hip hop
and are also using the same type of formula in their music than BP :
- the contrast between the verse and pre-chorus that BP often use, both use very "aggressive" vibe verse, before switching to a very chill type of instru for the pre-chorus
- then the one sentence line before dong the beat drop of the chorus "Batter batter batter up ....", "hit you with the du du du....." , "let's kill this love......" etc....
and the drop as a chorus
- both put the rap part always after the first chorus
- even the Outro, Blackpink always do this type of outro where they do a very energetic outro at the end and where the outro is very distinctive from the rest of the song " Pink venom", "how you like that" etc...
it's the same thing here with "batter up" where the outro too is in contrast of the rest of the song
even the MV type with distinctive and differet individual set for each members
I don't even think YG knows what they wanted to do with babymonster themselves. To me, their whole debut felt really rushed. They have to hire a new creative team and new producers but knowing YG, that'll never happen.
They really could have hit it out of the park with their debut and they played it safe. We ain't getting no good R&B from YG sadly

I have a feeling the "good" songs are gonna go to the b-sides.
And you know usually those good b-side songs never get talked about or promoted from the album
Well, I dont know others but in my case i prefer if a kpop company offer something different when they debut a new group. BP and Babymonster now have the same concept. I mean, we already have a product with those characteristics, other similar looks a boring option to me. Is like with marvel movies, the same formula again and again gets boring.

Musically their debut is barely similar to bp
Bp has big switch ups from pre chorus to chorus in their beat, while batter up is pretty consistent throughout
As well as bp beats being a lot stronge, with edm influence
And the ending is closer to treasure and 2ne1 than it is to bp.

If I like something I want someting similar, but of cource I don't want the exact same thing, some variations. It's like computure games, if I like one type of game I like more of the same with some varations of cource.
