Should YG have released Akmu or at least separate them with their own label?

  • According to the official YG Entertainment site , it has 8 acts

Jinusean - moribund, no longer operating

Big Bang - Only GDragon remaining in YG. Taeyang in Black Label, but following his own interest. GDragon now settling to develop new acts.

    AKMU

Winner - Members in the military

    BlackPiink - no explanation needed

Sechs Kies -Senior act, assembling once in a blue moon

Treasure - getting some traction in Japan

Babymonster - has not even debuted

So, right now , YG only has

    AKMU

    Roseanne Park

    Treasure

    Fin.

AKMU has become the Senior Act of YGE now, and it will influence newer acts to a big degree as Teddy will concentrate on his own label.

And Akmu is not a has been old relic - it won the only #1 in the Melon 100 from YGE this year, which strengthens its position in YGE.

Nobody would ever have expected this.

In late 2019, to strengthen Kakao Entertainment's future, it spun off its best known singer , who was nevertheless completely irrelevant as far as the overseas was concerned, to her own company. Although it reacquired that company 2 years later, for 2 years the archrival of BTS had her own company, attacking BTS, aespa and others whenever she felt like.

However her influence just remained in her own company, while Akmu is going to wield its influence over all of YGE.

akmu has the detriment of not being able to do a foreign tour, but now it has the initiative in YGE. Not spinning them off and giving their own company, so they would not have anything to do with YGE, might prove to be painful; since Rose would not have the Seniority, and would not be as big as before, she will not be able to stop AKMU's influence over the other acts.

  • I think I remember watching an interview with AMKU or something about why they choose and renewed with YG

their response was YG effectively lets them do whatever the F they want (within reason of course) but musically they are left to their own devices

But now they are YGE's senior act and they will influence other acts in there

  • They should leave YG and sign with the 1,000 year old label.
