More on Jamboree Emergency KPop Concert - The Key would be whether BTS will be available

  • The Jamboree in Korea, Aug 1-12, 2023, was held in a reclaimed land, i.e. a saltpit.

It was a lucrative business for the local politicians and landowners, but that's another story.

After a mountain of problems, the US, UK and Singapre contingents abandoned the field . The US contingent moved to a US military base and the UK (and Singapore, I presume) contigents moved to spots near Seoul. Quite a few participants left on their own.

Others tried to stick it out at the saltpit, but a typhoon is advancing toward there.

The disaster at Itaewon, a hot spot for young people in Korea, is still resonant

So the remaining participants will abandon the saltpit, and evacuate to spots near Seoul until they return to their homes on the 12th.

All of them are angry, and to soothe them a bit a Kpop concert, starring Ive, ZB1 and some others, were planned on Sunday but the conditions were not right.and a Kpop concert was hastily arranged for Friday.

initially, it was to be held in the soccer stadium near Jeonju, near where the event was being held, but since the typhoon will hit that area, it was moved to the Sang'am soccer stadium in Seoul. However since the typhoon is expected to bring lots of rain, they are considering the Gochuck, which is the largest indoor stadium in Korea.

In other words, they have not even decided on where the event will be held.

If they decide on Sang'am they now have 4 days to organize it, and if they decide at the Gochuck, they have less than 24 hrs to prepare since there is a baseball game scheduled there on the day before.

And, since t his is basically an event to soothe the angry participants, the lineup had to be strengthened (i.e. no acts like Very Very, who is confirmed not to show up on Friday).

NewJeans, Seventeen and NCT are confirmed to show up, but the key would be BTS.

It is extremely likely that if they show up their services will be shortened significantly, since this is an emergency situation and they did anser the call from the country. Other male acts showing up there will also have their services shortened. The incels might bark again, but this is not a time to listen to their noises.

However, for whatever reason, Hybe has a beef with the current government. By law those now in the military have to go if their superiors, who ultimately answer to the Minister of Defense, order them to go there - that is their mission and if they do succeed their services will likely be shortened by a month (or more depending how Hybe negotiates this ), and the same rule will be held to every male (not including foreigners, of course ) in there on Friday.

Other names being cited are Stray Kids and Itzy.

Also it is notable to say that not one person is citing the name of KPop's Greatest Freeloader. It seems even the Koreans, the Freeloader's greatest supporters, might think the Freeloader is an embrassment and the angry participants of this disaster will not want to see the Freeloader, although the Freeloader, who might hastily ask her staff to translate the lyrics written by herself into English no, has the kind of songs which would calm down a mob.

  • Its better if BTS don't participate at that concert. They already did the government a favor through the Busan concert which would have been a disaster if HYBE didn't organize it.

If they can get something from the govt, like a shortening of their service by at least 3 months, it is better for them to do that. Let the incels bark.

  • They only mentioned BTS to somehow pressure them publicly to say yes but we know 2 members are serving in the military so I doubt they'll do it. There's also a possibility that one of the members would be asked to perform.

Actually if the 2 members' superiors order them to go there, they have to go since it is a military operation for them.

Ji Changwook, Kang Haneul (both with musical experience) and some idols starred in a military produced musical show , set usually in some point in Korean military history, as their terms of enlistment. No different than that. If the Govt decides they are needed at the Sang'am/Gochuk they have to go.
