Fans having trouble accepting NewJeans copy and pasted PinkPanthress?

  • You guys latch onto anything to legitimize your idea that New Jeans doesnt deserve their current success.

If you think that PinkPantheress invented this sound/aesthetic then please do me a favor and look up FX, Grimes and Sophie because you’ll be shocked.

Eyedi also?? I’m like yall are stupid

None of these artists have dabbled in UK Garage or made it a big part of their brand the way PinkPantheress & now NewJeans have what....

Sophie is hyperpop and Grimes is more witch/ethereal pop. Both are experimental which is something NJ are not. You can't tell people to do their research and call them stupid when you clearly can't differentiate between genres.

Which NewJeans song sounds like Kill V Maim or Oblivion be serious if anything aespa is more like the artists you mentioned

  • Anyway I don't think they copy and pasted but people trying to deny the influence are living in their own bubble. Most of their upcoming album being UK Garage and having extremely short lengths is not a coincidence.

I prefer the OMG/Self-Titled debut sound better but it's definitely a breath of fresh air seeing this genre in KPOP. I wonder how PinkPantheress herself must be feeling seeing how she's a huge KPOP stan

You know what??? You’re right??? We’re arguing over the wrong term because PinkPantheress isn’t even uk garage, SHE IS HYPERPOP

The nexus of this sound, that you’re claiming PinkPantheress is creating by the name of UK Garage, is the electronic 8-bit beat, the use of the (eerily similar) late 2000s soundbyte, the spacey soundbytes, even the fucking piano soundbyte???

This song even uses the same beat reverberation affect as the back beat for the ENTIRE SONG?? The dreamy piano? The random sound bytes like i literally???????

The official realiti instrumental AND its demo instrumental have this same spacey/video game inspiration???

Grimes may not be going by UK garage, but PinkPantheress clearly “inspired” her entire image and sound directly from grimes. Even if you compare the low-budget music videos below you’ll see that

  • HYBE has been playing with drum n bass sounds since LY:Answer (Just Dance, I'm Fine) which is the year Ariana played with a similar palette. It's been bubbling under for awhile but now a combo of dnb revival, UK garage revival plus the Jersey club sound is popping off all across music and NewJeans (and Jungkook's new song) is just part of a general wave happening in pop, not specific to K-Pop but perhaps unique in being on time with the trend instead of 3-5 behind the curve like many K production styles.

Also, I love PinkPantheress but she didn't invent this revived sound lol, she just happened to score its biggest hit so far.

  • Yeah but it got real tiring on TW and YT, every time NJ came out with something that had been done a billion times, their fans would go insane screaming about how "refreshing" they were. When they sound no different than the billions of RnB/hip hop songs i grew up with in the 80s and 90s.

ISTG "fresh" and "refreshing" became hated words in Blackpinkhouse's house.

Like of all the genres that MHJ coulda chosen to bring back, she chose this garage mid music. When she had LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF LEGENDARY 80'S GENRES TO CHOOSE FROM LIKE 80's SYNTH, ARENA ROCK, AND HAIR METAL ROCK. This huge opportunity wasted ;(;(;(

Girl, that is literally every fandom alive lol blinks act like Lisa ivented the dance poll like :skull:

this trend will die real quick, people are tired already, kpop is scary, one day you are on top, the other day you are struggling to see the ligth of the day, pretty sure next comeback new jeans will have something new on their pockets

  • Why are some tokkies here hell-bent on the statement that NewJeans' comeback is not inspired by Pinkpantheress? There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration when credit is given due, which will be most likely given to Pinkpantheress seeing how things are going.

Okay, it is inspired by Pinkpantheress 🤷🏽‍♀️ ( who are they btw?!)

  • K-pop fans often have trouble accepting their faves' music is inspired by other artists. Inspo isn't a bad thing. That's how music works.

I think this excessive fear of being caught for "being inspired" is due to antis' constant claims of "plagiarism."

Omg I know this is over a year old atp, but you absolutely have no idea what you're talking about. Did you miss the part on the wikipedia screenshot where she is labeled DnB and Jungle, two genres linked to Garage bc they all utilize break beats and 2 steps. PP has never referenced Grimes or alluded to her being an influence, but she has talked about her very UK influences, and has worked with other house and dance musicians.

This isn't specific to what you said, I'm just further adding to the thread, but absolutely ZERO Kpop is made in a vacuum. All of it can be traced back to American R&B and specifically Black American artists, but everyone knows this. Even PP's music can be traced back to Black American house music, so truly arguments like this about who influenced who become repetitive and redundant. However it is undeniable that because a lot of Korean record companies chase trends, they can accidentally step on more authentic artists toes. PP didn't invent garage or DnB, but NewJeans sound and aesthetic is clearly chasing the trend made popular by her and artists such as Piri and Tommy. This was obvious when NJ debuted in 2022, and this past year when hella Kpop artists started making afro beats songs, chasing the popularity of Tyla's "Water". She didn't start the genre, but her popularity got attention from producers, clearly.

Yeah youre right and also love tlc.

    Hypocrisy at its finest.

It's okay when NewJeans does it. They never "invented this sound/aesthetic"

oh but ILLIT releases music that isn't even the same concept as NewJeans and they are "copycats"

    RIGHT!

  • First of all, the copying that illits team did was directly from the blueprint.

Next, the only kpop group w an original sound is nmixx and its garbage.

Third, did PinkPantheress invent the sound? Is that your thought? Is there a difference? We agree sometimes but quite often youre annoying as fuck

  • First of all, the copying that illits team did was directly from the blueprint.

I'm talking about ILLIT'S music and sound not the blueprint.

Next, the only kpop group w an original sound is nmixx and its garbage.

    That's an opinion.

Third, did PinkPantheress invent the sound?

NewJeans also didnt invent their sound so how is it "copying" when ILLIT [supposedly] uses the "same" sound?

quite often youre annoying as fuck

    So are you, dude.
