Isn't seungri the one who did crime, why are they demanding top to be removed from cast?

  • K-netz, I-netz, or Twitter users... Generally speaking, they share one thing in common. They're just people who are upset about something in their own lives, so they take it out on public figures. It's their way of coping, although it's an unhealthy coping mechanism.

The world has billions of people with different personalities, and a lot of them use the Internet. You'll see that a lot of them are positive people who only have good things to say. I'm sure there are tons of people writing positive comments about the casting of T.O.P., but that didn't make the news for obvious reasons.

  • I did not know about his acting career so was a bit surprised he was chosen, but when I heard about it, it made more sense.

Not mad about it at all. Dude's been through a lot, so have sympathy.

  • Knetz have a reputation of being super toxic. Very rich coming from people who have meltdowns if their celebs start dating. And what’s wrong with dancing, aren’t they wifed/hubbied up in their heads with dancing kpop idols. This obvs doesn’t apply to all Knetz but those reactions are quite racist and uncalled for.

  • also which member that want to go to the moon? Is it him or GD?

It's him. T.O.P. is eccentric like that. ^^ But we love him for it. He's just being himself.

Fun fact: He wore a SpaceX hat for promotional photos of "Still Life" by BIGBANG and he was "on the moon" for the MV.

I don't know if that was foreshadowing, but he got chosen to be part of the dearMoon project's crew. It's a trip around the moon and back, so they're not actually landing on the moon. It's his dream, so he got rather emotional about it upon being selected. See video:

  • I wasn't familiar with his history before but reading the Korean comments was truly painful. Seems like they really want to execute him because he smoked weed. It's just insane to me that someone can get a pass for DUI or SA but smoking weed is crossing the line. They've been brainwashed real good regarding this topic.

Negative comment / news sadly always generate more interaction.

Pann is super well known for always cherry picking the worst of the worst why there is still people who belive this has any representability at this point is a mystery

Since I know you like bb I think you’ll be happy to know there has been MANY happy and supportive comments

    For sure. I appreciate this.

I'm sure it's an unintended effect, but this cherrypicking depicts K-netizens and Koreans by extension as toxic, miserable, and judgmental people. Many of the spotlighted comments are outright sexist, misogynistic, homophobic, and racist.

Since most I-fans don't understand Hangul, Pann translations are the only limited exposure they get with K-fans. Now they have this twisted idea about what Koreans are like. There's often a disparity between how they view their idols versus how they view Koreans. It's an awful situation.

It's gotten worse in recent years due to K-entertainment's growth in global popularity.

Reality is much different from what Pann has us believing. People all have their own opinions, and I'm sure there's way more praise than hate most of the time.

  • You are very right and I agree with all you said. The problem - as you point out - is that sites that provide translations are either few, focus on entertainment industry and chose what gives most clicks (negative, hateful content).

The real Korean society is very different from how most I-fans think but I get their sources of information is very limited. Therefore it’s very difficult to have a fruitful discussion since some people will get downright upset and angry when you try point out how little relevance thing they belive to be true have to the real Korea. Anyway I appreciate the support :finger-heart:
