JYP has a very bad track record with soloists.
Let's be real, Somi left because she would have lost her solo brand deals that were her main source of income if she joined Itzy. She joined TBL because Teddy/YG are the best at getting their artists solo brand deals.
Comebacks are very slow, but Somi is still getting tons of brand deals. That's why she still defends the company when fans complain. If you look at it from the idol's perspective (who thinks of their career as a job) it makes perfect sense.

She is not interesting or creative as a soloist. Her music is as generic as it can get, even blackpink make more interesting music than her. What is special about somi? She can't sing, can't dance, and cannot act. What does she really do besides release blackpink demos once every year? She doesn't even have a solid fan base. Whilst other soloists release passionate and creative music, somi releases the same gibberish lack luster teddy park music. That's why they keep her locked away in the blacklabel dungeon. She is not bringing in dough for them.

Somi basically EP had x3000 more promo than born pink + she released 3 singles from her 5 new songs lol
Taeyang also released 3 singles & got impressive promo considering only his collabs are charting
Loren also got 3 singles & got to his own thing & actually got tons of exposure
BP can thrive promo wise under TBL whether we can get 11 songs album or fast CBs is unclear

(Kim Chanmi , ex-AOA, has legally changed her name to Im Dohwa, so Annie is the only Kim Chanmi in town.)
However something called Covid hit , derailing the foreign plans of Ennik and Chanmi. Chanmi is now in limbo, and Ennik just seems to enjoy what she has earned and stop here.
