There's something so off about 20 year old Lee Youngji conducting drunk interviews and drunkness being so normalized in SK

  • International fans asking "there is something off with Korean culture & habit"

    It's just their culture, like British people with tea.

    As for drugs.. it will always viewed negatively in Asian countries.

    As for Korean shows being loud... again it is just their type of comedy like American with stand-up or British with dry humor.

  • Same there and in Japan.

    The post work drinking culture,

    The talk about work drinking culture,

    Etc.

    It's the same in kdrama, always soju or beer and romanticizing it even when main characters buy it in some convenience store and opens it on the street right away lol

    Living in Japan and being able to grab a beer at a konbini at 1am and smash it straight away is one of lifes greatest pleasures

  • Isn't SK known for their heavy drinking, hangouts, team building, afterwork with colleagues, etc. Even without the show, majority of idols when asked say they started drinking when they turned of age. It's a heavy drinking culture, I think in Japan they also does it.

    So, is it only an issue because its being aired and everyone sees it? Even though majority of people does it? That's the culture itself, but not finding the show funny is a different matter. KPOP is full of hypocrisy anyways.

    Whether they are really drunk or not doesn't matter. They can use the alcohol as an excuse to say they're drunk and let loose of whatever personality they have on the show. To which I think is the 'goal' of the show. And I think that's the main reason idol likes to go on these shows, they can use it as an excuse. Seems sad, yes, but some fans seemed to love it. That the idol has a 'different' side to them, so essentially a fan-service.

    Honestly if you're an idol, you would go on here too. Not because you wanna show a different side, but because you wanna drink and let loose the f*** out. Given how much sht you have to deal with, seeing online comments due to some fans. Maybe those fans are in this thread too. Maybe. :eyes:

    ---======--

  • I always thought they were just pretending to be drunk

    prob depends on company, a large % of koreans turn red when they are drinking due to lack of enzyme so makeup would cover face, but would show on GG members chest unless its foundationed up
