All 7 days added together, they only sleep for 5 hours... So they said they're half conscious the whole day...

    original post: here

    1. Wow that's why it's intense whenever they comeback..

    2. I'm tired with sleeping 5 hours per day...

    3. Seriously being an idol is extreme, comeback seasons and off-comeback seasons are so different

    4. Kids be healthy...Once you're done promoting this time, please rest

    5. Wow how do they endure this? Impressive

    6. If you don't sleep enough, you can get severe headaches... ㅜㅜ Aigo

    7. I saw other idols talk about this, during their comeback seasons, they'd sleep around 1-2 hours per day?

    8. Insane..................What will they do if they faint? ㅠㅠ.....

    9. Aigo this must be so tiring. I'm impressed that idols don't make it obvious

    10. If I didn't sleep more than 5 hours in a week, I'll get into a personality controversy for sure. I get so sensitive without sleep and my bad habits show. Celebrities are amazing

  • I don't know how it was with this comeback but with previous ones

sorry won't believe it because they were just in for music show and that was it, there were really none big variety show activities or anything like that

unless their dorm is somewhere far away but even with that they can nap in car, or in broadcasting station, like many other Idols do

I think we are just completely unaware of how much time the behind the scene stuff takes and assume things are done as fast the length of the contact is.

For example Key has mentioned it takes the whole night to pre-record 1 song for music shows bc there are always delays and things dont work as they should. The cant really nap in between the wait time as they have to be ready to go.

Pre-rec is done usually around 5-6am, then they go back to dorm shower, film some content then go to makeup shop to get ready for the interview + live performance of another song.

So in total for the 10 min content we watch, they probably spent 15h or more, thats without the practice time.

  • That depends tho because I've heard some girl groups talking how it is for them and if they themselves make more mistakes during pre-recording then they need to repeat and repeat over and over again. But sometimes groups will just do it in 10-15 minutes and are free.

I know some get up at 3AM and go to salon that early to do hair and make up then go to pre-recording. But in same time I've also heard female Idols saying they've had 7-8 hours free between pre-recording to the final of music show so they went to different place, went back to dorm if it's close, slept in waiting room or even went out to eat and relax somewhere outside.

It all depends. Of course one day will be busy and other... Not so much.

Also another point is that they are young so they do dumb things which young people do like coming to bubble or other platform and talking with fans for 2-3 hours because "they can't sleep" 😂

  • Sadly it is normal of them for having 5 hours of sleep, bartkun.

Because I saw that other groups said the same thing in their vlog/behind the scen vids.

And in the first week, besides the things that Lulu said about prerecording, after that they sometimes go shooting another content/cf.

Things like studio choom didn't shooted with one take, but with several takes.

  • yeah this is why veteran idols who have alot more freedom choose to do live one takes.

Onew said with live one take he has to only shoot two or three times. With AR they make them reshoot many times to ensure the sound and video matches and in the end they get more tired.

but ofc rookie and younger idols dont get to choose

  • This is why fandoms who are screaming for more music show promotions are doing a HUGE disservice to their faves. Their faves dont want to be awakened at 2AM and bundled into cars in the middle of the night and forced to start shooting at 5AM or whatever ungodly hour these idiot shows start. Imagine doing this routine for THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS and SIX MUSIC SHOWS per week, at least in the old days.

It's ridiculous, and typical of the culture of overwork in Korea.

Not only that, look how the poor idols are microanalyzed in every frame of these shows. Idols are shaded for their visuals, their dance, their vocals, their expressions, every syllable they utter. Imagine walking around after 1 hour of sleep with cameras on you 24-7, spending an entire day dancing and waiting around, and then being attacked for a one second expression or some rando comment you may have made half asleep.

I am glad music show promotion cycles have been getting cut down recently. 2 weeks at most, sometimes just 10 days. That's enough already. Let the idols promote in other ways. Or force these idiotic music show producers to change the filming schedules so that idols can actually sleep in and REST between shows.

  • I straight up don't believe this, or it's exaggerated. This number apprpaches true sleep deprivation levels and leads to a number of impacts that would be obvious. Lack of coordination, slurred speech, confusion and disorientation etc.

It's just not possible to be so low

Yeah the "per week" is might be a mistranslated or misspoken.

They maybe actually means 5 hours each day for a week

  • Or force these idiotic music show producers to change the filming schedules so that idols can actually sleep in and REST between shows.

    But how?

Like make it to have 1 rest day and 1 shooting day, making it 3 days of shooting and 4 days of rest between?

Sadly, it maybe hardly possible since each broadcast station need to change their whole scheduling and maybe coordinating with other, which I don't think they will do.

Changing stuff like that need an approval from their higher ups and their higher ups maybe didn't care that much about a show for idols, because they had many other show

  • and fans always complains, wanting their idols to promote longer....

This is why most companies only let their popular stars to promote for 1-2wks max on music shows. Its not because they are sabotaging their stars. It is to allow them to rest.

  • Or force these idiotic music show producers to change the filming schedules so that idols can actually sleep in and REST between shows.

You think its that easy? Those music producers also work on a tight schedule and probably under even more pressure to have everything filmed on time for broadcast on TV.

  • to the people here who say they don't think it's true:

8 Drugs That Keep You Awake For Days - Reduce Side Effects - Superhumn

So y'all really think anyone on these companies cares about the Idols? Imagine during the schedule, one of them just sleeps. What to do?

Idols have NO OTHER CHOICE than doing what the manager says. Because they don't want to be kicked out. As a company, you have the ultimate power of controlling everything what your Idols do. you can make their world crash if you want. Imagine you are an idol which is from a poor family. CEO's are RICH: They have power over these idols.

If the managers notice one of the Idols is behaving sleepy/they get dizzy/they are weak, and it's before a recording/broadcasting, then they will give them some pill to change their condition. I am 100% sure.

And one more thing before y'all jump on me:
Do you think that even if you asked an Idol, they would tell the truth?
Idols are LIARS. They lie to you about everything, their health condition, their opinions on different matters, about their relationships.
Not because they want, but because they need to.

They grow up like that. The South Korean School system makes them study for hours.

    Here, read this article:

South Korea's schools: Long days, high results - BBC News

It is talking about a 16-year-old girl which only sleeps 4,5 hours per night.
    To study.

This is what she says about it:

"I get tired usually but I can forget about my hardships when I see my results, because they're kind of good!"

She says she would like to get more sleep but it's her job to overcome it. To get the qualifications to follow her dream career as a teacher she has to work hard she says, and besides she likes studying, and learning new things.

This is the mindset of most Korean Teens.

  • i hope the girls get a good rest after this.

Promo for Spicy is such a big contrast to Girls. There are so many variety shows + special performances (just saw that they will be on It's Live too)

And then aespa gonna have upcoming concert + festivals to perform. I hope they end the promotion this week or next
