She didn't write that rap.

loll my guild has a convo about this earlier,
most of the idols probably dont know about aave because they grew up in korea and were not taught about it.
Instead of getting upset at them, we should tell them what they are doing wrong and educate them instead
she's in our guild btw lol
she just hasn't been very active there till now ish

I watched that video with Johnny and Mark where they tried to teach chenle aave and it was really embarrassing.
This is a good informative video I watched:

what is aave
It stands for African-American Vernacular English, so basically it seems it's the english/phrases african americans use?

OP, since you are so obsessed with this 4 year old song, please help stream it to 1 billion thanks

Don't forget Jungkook "finna find my time"
But I think we have to allow that non native English speakers, whether artists or writers, are not necessarily going to be able to distinguish aave from other slang. I'm sure we'll reach a point where all K-Pop companies have manuals for this kind of thing if it stays popular enough.

I wish someone gather all idols in one room and give them a lecture about this in the same way as this video and teach them why it is offensive to stereotype a race by providing examples like the last one (if someone did the same to Korean people). I do believe their ignorance isn’t going to be fixed by just fans complaining (usually they think this is haters so they brush it off and don’t realize the seriousness of the topic) or simply assuming they know because they lived in western countries. I don’t know much about schools in the US and Canada but I think unfortunately not all of them are properly educated and informed about this topic. Judging from how many non-black Americans use it even in tv shows (that are considered culturally conscious).
Some years ago I didn’t know much about aave and thought it was internet slang even though I speak English and interacted with a lot of westerners. Only after taking a linguistic course (which barely touched the topic) I learned the history and origins behind it.

They do look like a fool

I think part of it probably stems from mimicking black rappers when they start learning to rap. You can unintentionally pick up other people's vocal tics if you are exposed to it for a long time. I also think that the fact that so much slang/meme culture on the internet has come directly from aave that a lot of people pick it up without realizing it's origin.
I personally use a lot of pronunciation (dropping gs at the end of words) that overlap with aave because it shares a lot of the same base characteristics with the general southern American vernacular which is where I grew up. It's honestly why as a kid watching jokes on tv about Ebonics in the 90s was so confusing to me because everyone pretty much talked like that here for the most part unless they were trying to be uppity.

anything else you'd like to point out? Feel free to watch it again. I am all ears

lol Lisa easily pulls it off, that's what an elite rapper does.
I do agree that AAVE can be super cringey if an idol cant pull it off.
However, we only have ourselves to blame. Where did these idols and labels learn about AAVE? Who has been cramming hip hop culture down everyone's throat for the past 50 years?? How many untold BILLIONS have local acts and labels made by selling hip hop culture and music and fashion to every sh*thole corner of the world?
Congratulations, America, you succeeded in growing an entire generation, maybe two generations, of foreigners who grew up idolizing everything hip hop, who have dreamt about becoming the next Tupac, Kendrick, or Rihanna. Is it truly a surprise that they want to act, dress like, and sound like their American idols??
