Kpop idols using aave doesn’t make sense

  • so it's okay to culturally appropriate because it's their dream to be like their favorite african american singer?

  • Yeah Lisa and Iggy Azalea have alot in common

  • I thought it's about using aave in general because if that's the case, a lot of esl/efl learners basically learn English through the internet and it's normal to pick up the same speaking habits when there's no/little formal education about the language. It can be unintentional or intentional based on the situation.

But in this case, it could be because of the writers who contributed in writing the song.

  • Offering the perspective of someone who lives in the other side of the world, unless you interact with black American people online you probably won't know what aave is. American media doesn't exactly make the distinction or explain its significance and history. We just watch movies and music videos and hear artists speak in a certain way and think it's just a dialect that's all

  • so it's okay to culturally appropriate because it's their dream to be like their favorite african american singer?

    CA is fiction.

And yes, when you sell someone your music, your fashion, and everything else associated with hip hop, you cant turn around and tell them what to do with the product you just sold them. It's patently ridiculous. As long as theyre not mocking, disrespecting, demeaning other people, they have every right to do whatever the heck they want with the product you JUST SOLD THEM.

America: Here are some "dope" shoes and chains and accessories for you.

America: BTW, you're only allowed to wear them around the house because you dont have the right skin color and DNA. You cant wear it in public, you cant use it in a MV, you cant do anything with it except stare at it in your closet. Just hand over your money and STFU.

Of course, it's actually worse than this, because nobody bothered to tell Koreans and every other country in the world that when they spent billions on these products, they werent allowed to "culturally appropriate" them.

  • never heard of aave until now and i doubt anyone whose native language isn't english heard of it

Don't forget Jungkook "finna find my time"

i have no idea what this means xD

you all seem to have a problem with lyrics, well, idols didn't write them. for "my time" the lyricist was a black man so you file a complaint to him, why drag the idols?
