if they have schedule overseas and money in foreign banks they can stay there
altough if that would be a war-war-war for long time
later on they will for sure be criticized by Koreans for not enlisting
it's kind of funny tho because in my country half of people who currently work where my dad works, those people are all from Ukraine men and women, there is probably about 400-500 Ukrainian men working in that one company even if the war is going on on their land, and no one will say anything bad about them here in Poland
ah and one more thing, if bombs and rockets will be flyin just like in Ukraine then whole nation would be in tragic spot, not just "your favs"

To answer your question directly, ignoring the greater implications of an actual shooting war.
It may depend on the scale of conflict. To start with, even enlisted members of your groups will probably be shifted somewhere not quite front lines, but still on readyness. But the longer things go on and the worse things get, the more likely it is that even famous enlisted people will be put to front lines/direct action areas.
For South Koreans, even after your 18 months (or whatever) enlistment doesn't mean you're safe. The next step in a war means that even men who have finished their mandatory service 4 years ago or less will need to report for duty and deployed to the war zone to provide support and regional stabilization. Men who finished their enlistment between 4 - 8 years ago will also need to ready to provide defense against any attack on the mainland.
