I wonder if it only takes them 1-2 trendy years to have the title of it girls?
Isn't it usually the most popular and trendy girl for several years who becomes the it girl?
for Hwasa it was very short, does that make her an it girl?
if so, then lots of girls can be too...not just one or two people

Like Yoona, Irene was everywhere on every TV channel with all kinds of cfs before her scandal.
The skin products brands she endorsed got a lot of feedback on their quality. She was the talk of town and she had more deals than Jennie has ever had. She even wore a necklace worth $300k, the first of its kind by a kpop idol. She was that valuable.
It's hard to make a name and it only takes a second to destroy it.

The whole term 'it girl' has been abused too often by kpop fans over the years, used too many times to promote their own bias(es)
But if you equal the term 'it girl' to peak popularity, either specfically in South Korea or internationally, then there have been 'it girls' after Yoona, like Irene who had her peak popularity era, just as much as other 'it girls' have had (or still have).

She was selected by industry as the best 3rd gen center
She rank 1 year as the idol with the most cf
She's the one who shake korea when Chamisul surprise everyone by announcing that they would replace IU who was their model for 7 years by Irene
Her pictures where everywhere in korea etc...
Her cf for chamisul with the green cloark even won best ads of the year thanks to how viral it went in korea and gaining millions of view in less than a day
Sana, somi, nayeon etc .... Never came close to Irene in term of it girl
And irene was as big it girl in korea than Jennie or Hwasa during her peak, the fact that the controversy damage her image for the brand doesn't change the fact that you can't change history
And Irene was a big It girl in korea that Brand were killing to have as a model
