American Music Awards, 2020
With Christmas looming, the septet apparently saw fit to dive headfirst into a tin of Quality Street at the tail end of 2020. Dressed in purple tin-foil-esque two-pieces consisting of waistcoats and matching trousers, as well as peppermint lamé suiting, bubblegum-pink metallic trousers and gleaming pale-blue wide-legged slacks, BTS were a shining example of how to do festivewear properly.

34th Golden Disc Awards, 2020
Attending yet another big Korean music awards ceremony in 2020, this time the 34th Golden Disc Awards, BTS were clad head to toe in Givenchy. What made this so special, aside from V’s floral coat and Jin’s bubblegum-hued suit, was that it was one of the final times we saw Givenchy as designed by British talent Clare Waight Keller on the red carpet.

The Today Show, 2020
BTS dressed up in some of the best designer brands on the planet for The Today Show in 2020. RM sported a checked trench coat from Italian luxury label Marni, Jin a Thom Browne blazer, Suga a Valentino coat, J-Hope a white Raf Simons denim jacket with the Belgian designer’s signature pin detailing, Jimin a Celine varsity jacket, V a white-collared Valentino coat and JK a pair of Mrs Miuccia Prada’s chunky black boots. That’s what record-breaking hits and bucketloads of cash can get you.

62nd Annual Grammy Awards, 2020
For their first outing at the Grammys in 2019 the K-pop band tested the waters in custom tuxedos. For their second trip down the music industry’s most-esteemed red carpet, which was in 2020, the group opted for neutral-hued, understated looks courtesy of Daniel Lee at Bottega Veneta. Naturally, it made for anything but a played-down affair and it was the buzziest menswear moment of the night.

Billboard Music Awards, 2020
For their virtual performance of the chart-topping track “Dynamite” at the Billboard Music Awards last year, BTS zoomed in from South Korea’s Incheon airport. The K-pop superstars rocked an assortment of matching plum-hued suits, delivering a delicious display of coordinated boy-band dressing.

Grand Central Terminal, 2020
Making an appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in the wake of their Map Of The Soul: 7 album release, BTS rocked up in a radical new look by way of matching Rick Owens glam-grunge ’fits. Jin opted for a distressed leather jacket, Jungkook, Suga, RM and J-Hope threw on zip-heavy trousers, while V and Jimin wore head-to-toe cream.

Melon Music Awards, 2019
For the 2019 Melon Music Awards in Seoul, South Korea, BTS were afforded unfettered access to Miuccia Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2019 menswear collection. Naturally, they went all out and layered cardigans over boxy wool suiting, doubled up on wraparound belts and persuaded us that no suit is complete without an OTT lapel pin.

Billboard Music Awards, 2019
BTS took home the Billboard Music Award for the Top Duo/Group in 2019 and performed on stage with Halsey. But, for us, it wasn’t their vocals or gongs that stole the show, but instead their Alexander McQueen ensembles. The BTS boys served a laid-back approach to formalwear with their daytime silk pyjama suits, elongated and loosely hanging cuffs, open collars and black stomper boots that shouldn’t really work with tailoring. We’re down with it.

Times Square, 2019
BTS were part of the famous Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show in 2019 and the band put on a spectacular performance in sequinned ensembles. Before that, though, the seven-piece were spotted in Times Square in New York City and served up some serious sneaker envy by way of sold-out Converse x JW Anderson Run Star Hikes and ultra-rare Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard sneaks.

SBS Gayo Daejeon, 2019
For the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon concert BTS were kitted out entirely in Kris van Assche-designed Berluti, serving another lesson in considered boy band dressing. RM, who is the lead rapper of the pack, stood out in a dazzling purple leather overcoat, lavender leather trousers and an aubergine-hued sweater, while the rest of the group paired up: V and Suga suited in brown leather, Jimin and J-Hop were muted in black and Jungkook and Jin were matching in graphic silk shirts.

Mnet Asian Music Awards, 2019
Dress head to toe in Celine, BTS picked up nine awards at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2019, including Song Of The Year (“Boy With Luv”) and Artist Of The Year. The band also served up more of their signature pattern clashing, proving that a safari-worthy camo overcoat can indeed sit next to a metallic-gold bomber jacket.

61st Annual Grammy Awards, 2019
BTS showed up to the 2019 Grammys in matching monochrome tuxedos, which were designed by Korean designers JayBaek Couture and Kim Seo Ryong. Later, the custom-made ’fits secured their rightful place in the Grammy Museum’s On The Red Carpet exhibition, which showcases the best looks in Grammy history, and where they still appear today.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, 2018
For the band’s debut appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2018, BTS members put on an exuberant display of pattern clashing in glitzy mix’n’match suiting, high-shine lamé jackets and geometrically patterned two-pieces. Want to make an entrance at your first post-global pandemic party? This is how.

American Music Awards, 2017
Not only did BTS become certified members of the Gucci gang at the 2017 American Music Awards, but they also joined the likes of Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Brad Pitt in proving that ripped jeans are acceptable after all. Take note.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!, 2017
Dripping in Supreme, BTS could have been mistaken for a pack of your average hypebeasts. We hope security was close by – we’ve heard those thirsty grail hunters will do anything for the coveted garms.
