What set SHINee apart from their contemporaries?

Now even SHINee solos do better than their contemporaries' group projects.

As an example, both SHINee and 2pm debuted in 2008 and they are both from big 3.

2pm has kept a steady popularity but SHINee has grown and even found an audience among new gen kpop fans.

Highlight actually does better in terms of album sales after leaving and their digital are still really strong
