[pann] What is wrong with SM nowadays? "Outdated", "severe", "low-grade beats", "mass produced", "fuc*ed up"

I hate to say this but they have a point. SM back during second gen was experimental but those experimental songs were still good and easy to listen to. Nowadays SM is trying to force feed noise music down our throats when, looking at the songs that dominated 2022, people clearly don't want that. SM can't read the market like they used to and instead of jumping ahead of trends and making them popular, they are trying to force trends the public doesn't have an interest in.

Stomp on it is terrible. Structure is a mess and it sounds outdated. The only good thing is Karina, she slayed her parts and has best screen presence

I agree with k-netz. SM songs lately are either a hit or miss. They especially need to improve their lyrics.

outdated ?? I don't think they have a good read on what the gp wants but they definitely try new things and new styles. Sometimes I feel like they are way too experimental, not the contrary

SM's production since 2020 has been extremely divisive. I mean, they had really repetitive songs before but they had pop melodies that were very strong. Now it seems like their most marketed groups, NCT & aespa, have more performance oriented title tracks, and the beats are more mechanical and metallic sounding.

SuJu is doing their own thing. SHINee has like one song that's "noise" music in Don't Call Me, the rest of the album was very pop and R&B. SNSD is a similar case. Red Velvet does whatever the fuck they want lol.

SM didn't have a unified sound at any point but they always had groups with solid musical identity using sound motifs. Now all the groups are disjointed.

Idk tbh, recently I haven't liked Birthday, stamp on it, and songs like that etc. Aespa is my only saving hope.

SM better not ruin EXO's top-notch discography with their upcoming comeback...

they have said this about every comeback last 10 years at least. Still SM groups slay and others end up copying them

even if sm releases a dumb song it will still be better than what most other groups put out

sm need revamping with music producers, writers as well as creatives

SM really trying to milk the Next Level interlude, it came out of nowhere in Stamp on It lol. The beat drop/interlude/bridge was brilliant in NL, maybe even better in Savage (which was overall a mixed bag song). But i dont know if it belonged in Stamp On It (i cant remember if Step Back had one).
