Dragging Blackpink for being "influencers" is a moot point when the definition of a K-pop idol is synonymous with being an influencer. The only reason people interpret influencer and idol differently is that influencer has a western ring to it, but what Blackpink is doing is completely normal. Numerous idols and groups from any generation have been doing it, just not as broad of an international scope.
Idol culture is meant to create an experience for the fans beyond the music. You might not like how they do it, but if they've managed to build such a dedicated fanbase, they've achieved that mission.
