Why Do Suzy's Songs Sound So Bad???

I like Satellite but I really get what you mean with the second song

she does sing in cursive just a lil bit, but some of it maight be english pronunciation tbh

I actually really like her spare arrangements the most:

Is it the English lyrics she struggles with maybe? Ie, she's focusing more on pronunciation than melody?

Or does she think that totally flat vocals are what work with these kinds of songs? Like if Ride is the only shoegazey band she's heard or something...

Satellite is an almost great song, but the vocal production (too dry, too high in the mix, too clean) and performance (too dead, too sharply enunciated) hold it back.

Anyway Holiday is a megabop.

Suzy is simply not known and popular for music and her singing, being a popular celebrity doesn't mean they are gonna succeed in all the entertainment branches, same as being a popular singer doesn't mean the idols are gonna succeed in acting

The song production isn't bad..def. different than most K-Pop. The vocal approach in both songs need more of the "vibrato" ingredient.

none of her solo songs did that well, her debut did decently but wasn't a hit either (didn't even made into top 100 circle and was released in january), she had some OSTs years ago which did decently but her only real hit on charts was Dream with Baekhyun, she also spend a lot less in music industry this past 5 years and she's also not trendy anymore

Suzy was never strong solo artist digitally, she's most known as an actress than singer and always been compared with somebody like Taeyeon for example which was known and popular for her singing and music career, she's more similar to Yoona, difference Yoona was never pushed musically and never released any kind of music during her peak days (neither solo or collabs).

Suzy is not a digimon or anything and she has never really focused on music.

She is popular enough that two of her tracks got All-Kills and high 24h ULs. She never promotes so of course, her songs will have bad longevity.

Even Cape debuted in top 100 of Melon Daily which is something popular 3rd gen soloist are struggling with. Just because she is popular doesn't mean she will make anything chart. Her music style is unconventional to say the least, both her 2022 tracks are full english announced days before the release. She has also gone too long without actually doing music so it wouldn't be surprising to me that some people don't even bother to check out her releases.

If she ever comes out with a fully promoted album(she's been teasing it for some time now), I think it will do at least decent. Not a smash hit like IU or Taeyeon's songs but good enough.
