4th gen battle : HANN vs HYPE BOY

Hann is one of my favorite kpop songs ever. Hypeboy is good too of course but it really is no competition for Hann

Hypeboy for me. Hann might have more meaningful lyrics, but melodically as a song without knowing what it's about, I don't care for it.

never read Hann's lyrics before - am I supposed to be reading this as a break-up song or is there a layer I'm missing? (judging from all the comments here)

HB isn't a lyrical masterpiece either but it gets the job done

I don't understand where the comparison comes from. I like G-IDLE but at the same time, I couldn't really get into a lot of their songs. Even though Hann is a really great song, I'mma have to go with Hype Boy. I've been really obsessed with it lately and it's more my style.

I didn't even realise Hann was that popular 😳 Hype Boy easily without a thought for me

It's built off a older poem by a well known Korean poet, using a very Korean concept/meaning/word of Hann. The lyrics do mutiple things - there's the front layer of the break-up walkaway song, then secondary layer making multiple references and build-upon the original poem.

Lastly their is the bananas rhyming scheme, the entire song is basically a massively complicated rhyming structure, and increases even more during the actual rap section

Many of Soyeon's songs are like that. She is an absolutely top of the game Korean Lyricist.

It's just not celebrated much here or on Twt because well.... Korean lyrics, unpacking the rhymes, meanings etc is just not things international Stans care for.
