Do they really believe their favs actually write most of the parts? I doubt they do maybe some words. And what if they do write the whole song. It doesn’t mean that it’s great. My ten years old brother can write too but it doesn’t mean he’s better than professional writers or producers. So bragging about writing skills when your favs songs are mediocre asf to just put down other groups. Basic kboos
Why are K-pop stans so obsessed with their favs writing songs?

They just praise celebrities. It’s normal

Well.... sometimes I wonder what part of a song that kpop star wrote, if they are one of 5 people who participating in writing the lyrics.
Like if they just wrote like one sentence and were thinking "my job here is done"
but often when a rapper in a kpop group participated in writing the lyrics in a song, I often assume that they wrote their own rap parts.

Yes I do because my faves are the ONLY songwriters in their songs and do not have 472637273 extras

I’m not into lyrics tho blame me. None of these artists instrumental works come close to Teddy. Music is not just about lyrics. It’s deeper than that

I'll only ever financially support groups that self-compose and write their own lyrics.
Every rapper should have writing credits too.
There's way too much music in the world, to bother with groups that don't write their own stuff.

How many songs have Blackpink written?
And Teddy's repetitive instrumentals are the Kpop equivalent of the Inception WHOMP. There's nothing remotely "deep" about it.

I love self-composed songs because it will give you insights of how the artist was feeling or thinking. That’s why I really appreciate BTS members’ own solo songs on soundcloud because they are not influenced by the need to adhere to some concept or what the label wants. Those are just pure songs from their hearts without any monetary gain or whatnots. I wish many other idols release their own personal songs on soundcloud so we can appreciate them.
I know straykids has soundcloud (the rapline) besides BTS. So if there’s anymore idol with soundcloud account, please share. It’s always interesting to hear the songs there. I’m sure many rappers have soundcloud accounts.
Anyway, I am always amused when people put down some songs that have plenty of collaborators. Imagine your contribution, even though small (but important for the whole thing to be cohesive), is not acknowledged. How would you feel? I personally respect anyone who will acknowledge every single person involved in a project, than a person who don’t.

Spoke nothing but truths here.
Writing lyrics is child's play, it's just like writing poetry which literal children can do and do damn well. It's composing, producing and arranging the music that takes real skill, a skill that only a select few have (Pdogg, Teddy, BEP, Soyeon, 3RACHA).
Also, it is really difficult to take songwriting credits for idols or local pop stars seriously when there are 800 other names on the credit line.

Composing and arranging are definitely harder than lyric writing but writing lyrics, especially GOOD lyrics, isn't easy. It takes practice and skill, just like any other profession.

Being an incredible lyricist is difficult af though, simply because any one can have a try. Easy to start, agonising to master. Production is similarly difficult but the barrier to entry is much higher. Being great and self-reliant at BOTH is rare, and the idol industry isn't set up for that sort of talent.
Even in another field like hip-hop which is more about self-reliance, a producer-rapper like Kanye West faced massive pushback at the beginning.

Co-lyricist is normally where I'm like " " because being credited as a co-anything is quite easy in kpop at least. You could add a single phrase and it could already let you get credited as a co-lyricist
Not to mention, I wonder how many of these companies put their idols' under that title falsely. I normally give them the benefit of the doubt but companies can be real shady sometimes

I don't know about you, but I don't know what I would do without Nayeon's pen. I LOVE pop music and that's Nayeon's bread and butter. Every single one of her songs have this amazing hook that get's stuck in my head for weeks with a bunch of mini hooks throughout the rest of the song that make the entire song memorable.
