None of them have had multiple mega hit years.

Then 4th gen ends way faster than 3rd, thanks to Hybe debuting too many groups

The better music argument is kind of weird. Like honestly both 3rd Gen and 4th Gen had far more misses then wins when it comes to the "mega hits".

3rd Gen music just felt like it was pandering, very ordinary music. Only RV was doing anything half interesting, and half their stuff didn't land. The others were very formulaic (but hey, if it works it works).

4th Gen music has the a different type of pandering, where they try to go for viral moments and often they got the atonal route, leading to some terrible terrible songs.

3rd Gen = boring, but generally average. 4th Gen - more interesting, but far more clangers.

I think it's a wash. Gen 3.5 are the winners with better music, 3.5 > 3 > 4.

Hm, since I consider EXID and AOA as 2nd gen/ 2.5, the only 3rd gen group I stanned is Badkiz.

I love aespa and find itzy interesting, so that is already more than what 3rd gen gave me.

I wonder if the people who have the stats can tally up the top 10/20/50 (are their even 50 GG from the 3rd gen???) from the 3rd generation and compare it to the top 10/20/50 GG from the 4th for say 2021 and see what the numbers say...and also do it for the first 8 months of 2022??

I agree with what you said except Red Velvet and Blackpink. Because apart from 3 big companies, there were few girl groups that gave interesting music.
