An apology is an admission of guilt... except when it isn't, ie when it's done purely for PR reasons so people will just get off the person's back. Not every apology is sincere. Everyone, kpop fans especially, should already know this (I mean hello? Tzuyu hostage video?) Who's to say Irene was actually apologizing for something she genuinely did, and not just doing what SM thinks is best to make the situation blow over?
And what's worse than an admission of guilt? Guilt without admission!

Just a rumor from the same account that's been saying there'd be an EXO sub-unit for 2 years. You gotta take everything that account says with a grain of salt. SM often shuffles around releases. All kinds of releases got shuffled around last year, like we were told in June that 127 would come back in October and they shifted it back to September to make room for NCT 2021 while RV got seemingly bumped around late last year and half of this.
