Depends on the type of pre-debut activities to me.

If they have released covers (either vocal or dance) that has shown me their potential talent, then I can get excited with that.

I can look forward to what their music may be like building upon those talents.

Even worst is when they dont even know how any of the members look or sound... e.g NMIXX (mystery package) and Baemon (YG ngg). Theyre just Company stans.

Ohh, yeah, the nmixx preorder was especially crass- and hilarious, because they got o.o at the end xD

I feel like many times people who use the word token stan like to looked down on the “token group”. It’s like a superiority complex because heaven forbids people liking a group because of their merits.. it feels very condescending to me.

But I do agree that kpop stans love new and fresh faces. Hence why usually kpop groups especially GGs have only one cycle of life... or you could comeback really rarely for that fresh feel (I think aespa is heading this direction).

So I don’t think it’s token or success stan. It’s just natural that people will be attracted to newer and shinier toys.

That was a big one for me also, they did really well pre debut and also the added bonus they are Mamamoo younger sister group, they had me intrigued early
