What's the minimal requirement for being part of the fandom?

no definition just be a fan. you don't need to be obsessed.

To me, it's as simple as keeping up with group, supporting them in the ways that you can and feel comfortable, and loving them.

You basically like the group and their music. That's it!

I mean, liking the music.

And If you decide to become a solo stan of one member make sure to not become toxic against the other members

Then if you still consider yourself stanning them, then you're a stan. That's just my personal definition, but if a person calls themself a stan using what you defined, who am I to say they aren't one?

but the more important question is why does it maatter if you are a casual fan/fan/stan etc etc...just like what you like and don't feel the need to put a label on it?

It's all up to you. At the end of the day, your support in any form is what matters.

Casual fan seems like such a weak word when I consider some groups music my favourite/ amongst my favourites.

I like a lot of music from groups who aren't my favs as well but I don't call myself a fan of that group since to me (and it's my personal subjective opinion) being a fan of a group means something more than just the music - I would say it involves at least knowing something about that group at the very least but others might disagree
