The fact that newjeans is battling with BP and Ive less than 1 month into their debut and managed to get 144 raks is insane already. I'm excited to see how their next comeback does.

Nj Just casually blocking others on the biggest chart a month after their debut and 140+ raks is just peak pettiness.

NJ is number 1 on melon, that is the most important one, very surprising to see a debut group holding on to that with this much competition.

Will Twice be allowed to join this battle?

The Korea Times has the story, reporting on new data from research firm Mobile Index. It suggests that YouTube Music has grown from a 1.7% share of the South Korean music streaming market in 2019 to 19.22% by the end of 2021.

That means YouTube Music has overtaken services like Flo (with its 13.31% share according to the research) and Vibe (4.08%) and is pretty much neck-and-neck with the second biggest service, Genie (19.24%).

2 caveats.

1. This is I believe paid subscribers, I am not sure if is different for people that stream with commercials.

2. The breakdown is different by different age groups, so young people, who consume more kpop, may listen to other media and not Melon. But I do not know that information.
