Your definition of a 'Stan'

Same definition as 'Satan'

Being a stan just goes beyond the music and performances, you watch everything about a group and you might also buy their albums, you also follow their individual activities etc..

you're a stan when you like a group enough to call yourself one

I buy albums and stream to support groups and if possible attend concerts but other than that I don't think I really dabble in fan content that much anymore. I stan 1.5 groups currently and I am a casual follower of other groups mainly Blackpink, Twice, Le Sserafim, and TXT.

what a stan would do for their idol

For me, it's when you go beyond music and performances i.e. Variety shows, Vlives, endorsements, tweets, IG posts, etc.

I consider myself a BTS stan even when I don't own any album (my 1st album is their latest one, Proof).

I do not consider myself a stan when I only follow their music and not so much into others.

Buying albums or going to concerts is something normal and you can be a fan of anyone or anything and do these things.

If you ofc buy like 10x albums then I’d say you’re a stan but mostly by Stan you take a personal stalker like interest in your idols. If you care about the everyday happenings of your idols for example kpop Stan’s keep track of idols every schedule, every interview every vlive/SNS post, they obsess over their success… you have to do that to be a stan imo.

Listening to the groups b-sides along with their title tracks and knowing all the members names.

I am having second thoughts after reading some posts here.

Stan has negative connotation though always has. It implies obsession Kek. Ofc some ppl own it but that won’t make it something positive.

It doesn’t mean you’re more or less of a fan. You don’t become a stan because you love your group a lot Kek but you’re “stalker” level obsessed with them hence STAN aka Stalker Fan

I like the members, the music, watch their content other than MVs & support them by actively streaming, voting and/or buying

when you send two letters in autumn

when you name your daughter Bonnie

when your room is full of pictures and posters

when you get a tattoo of their name on your chest

when you talk about them 24/7

when you drink a fifth of vodka and drive off a bridge!!!
