Mass downloading, mass streaming, and bulk buying is same shit

  • Everyone’s favs with even a smidgeon of a fandom has benefited from these things. But we only notice it when our favs lose. Not when they previously benefited from it.

Exactly. It's just like people getting mad at LYW's fans for doing... the exact same thing kpop fandoms do. People just get mad when they get out gamed.

  • I mean, people game the system, until their gaming the system brings the hammer down on the system.

It's what happened with the zombie hour line ups.

It's probably going to happen here too since this stuff has been gaining traction for a minute.

So I guess enjoy it while it lasts, the public's gonna kick that shit out sooner or later.

  • which is what I keep on saying

if a person can sell 1 album to 1 person that's 1 sale

if a person can sell 1m albums to 1m people that's 1m sales

if a person can sell 100 albums to 1m people - hire that bloody person!!!!

  • Multiple credit cards for digital sales. Cash for physical sales.

to cheat billboard now you’d have to have different accounts on platforms with different names on credit cards for digital sales. which would be too much work for the typical fan.

as for physicals, no one really buys physical albums anymore in the US so alot of stores have limited inventory, so again too much work in the US to try and cheat the system.

but one get one sales also aren’t allowed in billboard, especially first week sales. example if a store offers Buy 1 Album Get One for a $1 on the first week of release, then you buy two, only one would be counted in billboard….

Vachirawit “Bright” Chivaaree can get it every day all day all week every month all year for a lifetime.

  • It is possible for one person to buy 200 albums, it's called group orders. You get 10, 20, or so people ordering more than 1 album it adds up. Especially if it's like Hello82 to help the artist chart and it's cheaper for an american to do the order and then mass ship it out than someone in korea or japan to buy it. Plus of course some albums come in various variations with different inclusions and hardcore fans want all the inclusions or to collect one of each. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy on foreign marketplaces for things you specifically want instead of mass buying a ton of albums, and other times it's cheaper to just keep buying albums trying to get what you want and reselling the extras.

Mass Downloading is physically downloading something which is similar to setting your spotify on a playlist and randomly streaming for hours. Bulk Buying isn't the same in that aspect. Downloading and streaming gives you nothing physical so in that aspect it's not the same thing.

while i haven't bought 200 albums at once i have bought over 10 of Up10tion's novella one time and still trying to sell the extras....Just for the inclusions :siptear:

But as far as I'm aware Hello82 has now set a limit per order, you can keep ordering but you can only do a certain number at a time per transaction. Unless they changed that too.
