People are being ridiculous.
First of all, companies and idols have a profit sharing contract, so the money companies make off their idols is the companies' money and they can spend it however and on whoever they want (this argument is especially hilarious when coming from fans whose faves barely contribute anything to their music and content)
Second of all, companies are bound by contract to promote groups and give them comebacks regardless of how successful they are. Arguing that this should be done in a hierarchical manner is awfully classist.
And finally, this is awfully selective and hypocritical. When a company neglects a group's promotion because they're not very successful and eventually shelve them, they get dragged. But here you also have people dragging companies for doing the opposite just because it's convenient for them to do so. It's all about narratives. Kpop fans are rarely sincere or consistent, all opinions and stances depend on the identity of the artist or group or company being discussed.
