overall now it's audition period so all information about audition criteria is there, also they might target young Chinese fans in a way that they will create a group which will live/perform outside China for most time, only coming from time to time to perform on different WeTV award shows, music shows etc.

SEA has a considerable number of young Korean expats.

I don't think it is that hard to filter. Just by sorting all less pleasant-looking photos out, they can eliminate 10,000 of that within few hours.
Then, watch dance videos for 10 - 15 seconds each to see if an applicant can dance at all. If they have 3 teams screening dance videos at once, they can eliminate 2,000 more in a day.
Repeat the process with singing videos, they can skim applicants to less than 1,500 in less than a week.
If I remember correctly, CJ ENM planned to debut PD Japan 3 group within this year. We have been in the 7th of 12 months now. Only 5 months left. The show will take 12 weeks = almost 3 months. And, at very least, 1 month is needed for debut preparation. The first episode teaser may be around the corner.
