Was there any backlash from fans after this?

Yes. Towards the venue for making absolutely zero effort to clean up the stage and make it at least reasonably safe to perform on.

You could see the pure rage on Sowon's face once the performance was done. She barely let the girls say goodbye before ushering them off the stage.

The silver lining is that this incident boosted GFRIEND's popularity and Me Gustas Tu, already a hit song, became a National Hit after this happened.

Also, the performance by Yuju, who fell the most and the hardest, is easily the gutsiest performance by any idol I've ever seen. She fell flat on her face several times and got back up to hit every single high note. Remarkable grit and determination to finish the stage.

Yeah, you're right. It is a business and the terms of a contract should be upheld. By both parties. HYBE was given multiple opportunities to protect NewJeans and operate in their best interests, but they fucked around, did the exact opposite for months and now they put themselves into the "found out" phase.

Signing a contractual obligation to a company does not mean signing away your basic human rights nor does it give that company the power to dehumanize and ruin you. At least NewJeans' contract isn't structured that way, which is why they have legally and lawfully terminated their contract, after HYBE's clear breach of trust.

Don't want to lose your investment? Don't treat them like shit and intentionally harm their careers.

It's a painfully simple concept. One that you can't seem to comprehend, because you're too busy glazing multi millionaire executives for some inconceivable reason.

did you watch the superbowl? I remember how commentators were like Patrick Mahomes...hmmmm maybe well not anymore lol

physicality would be good - I try to teach my under8s that except half of them "flop" literally upon any contact lol

That's why I liked him since he was a hard worker except that he did have some questionable decisions at times - but a solid 10-15 min would be what he could give you

I'm the biggest Tom Brady fan on the planet, so I was locked into the Super Bowl, and it was my favorite since the Tampa Bay/Kansas City Super Bowl :meme-smirk:

Let the Mahomes is the GOAT talk die a miserable death, just like his attempt to 3-peat. There can only be one!!!! :meme-elmo-fire::meme-elmo-fire::meme-elmo-fire:

You've good taste. LeBron who? Jordan is obviously the GOAT, and the GOAT of American team sports as a whole, rivaled only by Tom Brady, who is the clear cut GOAT of his sport.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a return to the physicality of the 90s. Swallow the whistle a bit and allow more hand checking and physicality. Not unlike how they call the game internationally. Our stars are so used to quick whistles that it always takes them time to adjust to FIBA play, where there is no defensive 3 second, no offensive goaltending and generally way more physicality.

    I love it.

I'm not saying we need the Bad Boy Pistons to return, who literally beat the life out of MJ as a defensive tactic, but a happy medium would be ideal.

Also, Javale McGee was actually a contributing role player on those Warriors teams LOL. He was good for 10-15 minutes of quality play before his meme brain turned on and he made you question how he made the roster :meme-kek:

If you're so willing to go full-on boomer and age yourself in some misguided attempt to sound like a know-it-all, I'm more than happy to play along. I bet the last time you stepped foot on a basketball court, dribbling wasn't allowed. They must not have had any 3-point lines either, hence why you think the Warriors "revolutionized" their use, despite being adopted by the NBA nearly 40 years earlier.

I think we've found the antithesis to "Thinking Basketball". Your take is horrific in its combination of audacity and unapologetic ignorance.

You somehow know less about basketball than you do about K-Pop, and you set that bar so high that Victor Wembanyama couldn't reach it with a 20 ft ladder.

Listen, you dunce, I never said the Warriors INTRODUCED the 3-point shot; I said they revolutionized its use in the modern NBA. Yes, the line was "adopted" in 1982, back when it was considered a bad shot still and teams averaged barely 2-3 3-point shots a game. Today, Curry averages 12 ON HIS OWN.

In the 1980s, teams averaged 3.5 3-point shot attempts per game.

I'm the 2020s, teams are averaging 35 3-point shot attempts per game.

Gee whiz, Sherlock, I think all data indicates the way the league utilizes this shot has drastically evolved over the years, which no team or organization played a bigger role in doing than the Golden State Warriors. Here's an excerpt for you.

The emergence of the Golden State Warriors as the most dominant team in the NBA would prompt teams in both the Eastern and Western Conferences to search for and cultivate three-point shooting talent in an effort to compete with the Warriors.[15] While none of these teams ever saw the success of the Warriors,[16] their adoption of the three-point offense did improve overall pace and efficiency of NBA basketball, and became a fixture of the league.[17] A number of teams surpassed the Warriors' three-point shooting statistics during their championship runs – most notably the Houston Rockets, led by general manager Daryl Morey, recorded an NBA record 45.4 3PA per game on 35.6% efficiency in the 2018–19 NBA season,[18] and 45.3 3PA per game on 34.5% efficiency in the 2019–20 NBA season.[19]

Which is EXACTLY why the analogy and parallels I made between the Warriors and NewJeans so perfect. They are both revolutionizing forces of nature in their sectors.

To sum it all up, I'm not a know-it-all. I DO know it all when it comes to the NBA. And it's not that I'm some boomer or vastly older than you; I'm just vastly more intelligent. But if you want to attribute that to age and not intellect, to make your flailing posturing seem more credible or imposing, when you so clearly know nothing about basketball, so be it.

But you've been warned. I'm MUCH nastier debating sports than I ever am debating K-Pop.

Only if you pay for it! 🤣

Also, what's your problem with my comment? I don't think I lied. Didn't say BP won't be a success, I was shading Teddy bear. And it's not that hard to believe that YG doesn't care about BP, and they want to give the better songs to Babymon. Do you really think YG will give them more than 4 songs? Honestly, I would be surprised if they get more than a Single with 2. BP may be big in the west, but I'm not so sure about SK anymore. Just look at TWICE. I'm not saying they won't chart in SK, btw, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't enter the TOP5 or even TOP10.

As for Gidle and KIOF, both groups are in their prime now, especially Gidle. As much as I love Aespa, if SME don't give them good songs, they won't have another year like 2024. They're in their 5th year, and this was their biggest success so far.

NJZ will have the biggest year. That's my point.

But the most fun comeback will be Mamamoo, if they do return.

Hey, Thinking Basketball is fantastic. I'm not surprised they eventually got officially picked up as a partner with the NBA. The man knows his basketball. I'm not going to disagree with his ultimate point.

I was speaking purely from the perspective of how fun the product is to watch for fans, especially ones who have been watching since before the 3-point shots explosion. There is a very common sentiment that the league has become somewhat homogenized due to every team building their offenses around shooting as many 3s as possible.

It just so happens that my favorite current player, Kevin Durant, and my favorite all time player, Michael Jordan, were the two best scorers ever and made it an art form, both extremely effective and efficient from practically anywhere on the court, and they're both the best mid range shooters in NBA history.

But I've also been in the building to see Steph Curry drop 28 points in a single quarter. That's fun. Watching every team try to replicate it isn't. Not to me.

Today, I enjoy watching Jokic play. He's the best player in the world quite easily, and he is a basketball savant and routinely makes mind blowing plays with terrifying ease and efficiency.

I'm sorry, grandpa, but I actually didn't glean a single morsel of valuable insight from all your ranting. Why don't you calm down, take your meds, and tell me about that time you were classmates with George Mikan?

PS: We don't call it "space and pace," we call it boring trash.

Not my fault you're a terrible student. And who's the grandpa here, when you're making off handed George Mikan references, while I'm talking about a team that peaked in the late 2010s. Cringe.

We call it space and pace. Now the NBA has been reduced to a numbers game, where the formula for success is attempting and ideally making as many 3s as possible. To many, this has come at the expense of the enjoyability of the product, as every team virtually follows the same philosophy and jacks up endless 3 pointers.

Is it effective? Yes. Is it fun to watch? No, because Steph Curry is 1 of 1, just like NJZ is to K-Pop.

Styles make fights, but the fights grow stale when everyone fights using the same style. Much like groups who copy and paste the NJ formula.

    Okay, boomer.

    :meme-what-is:

I hope you learned something tonight. My office is always open if you need more learning about the NBA :meme-think-about-it:

I wouldn't say the Warriors "revolutionized" anything

Only someone who doesn't know NBA basketball would say that. They absolutely revolutionized the use of the 3-point shot and disproved the widely held belief that a team of jumpshooters couldn't win.

Not only did they win but they became a dynasty and the best iteration of the Warriors (2017), a team of jumpshooting assassins, is considered by most to be the greatest team of all time alongside the 1996 Bulls, with some staunch supporters of the 86 Celtics, 87 Lakers and 01 Lakers.

Come correct if you want to talk NBA basketball around me, kid! :meme-grumpy-cat:

GIDLE will eat them all alive! Mark my words! They will release another PAK worthy song! :meme-mmm-tea:

As for Blackpink, I know most people (or more like BLINKS) voting for them, but I can only see them going big overseas. To be fair, they have more chance in Korea now that Teddy bear is not there anymore. There's a slight chance YGE won't give them the same old boring, repetitive and loud SWAG YOLO songs. Unless, Daddy Yang said, the better music has to be given to Babymonster.😂

To be honest, on this list, I only care about Gidle and KIOF, Aespa is a hit or miss with their Title Tracks. So, unless we're gonna get a MAMAMOO comeback, 2025 gonna be a borefest like 2023 was. At least MAINSTREAM Kpop wise.

    :meme-stop-it:

It's probably going to be a completely unexpected group .... so either Gugudan or Weki Meki

    :meme-barbie-crack::meme-u-ok:
