Man, this dude is tone deaf and delusional. As an Asian, this pisses me off.

Before BTS became a global success, people's understanding of Asian culture was very narrow or narrow-minded, and people who liked Asian culture were seen as people with very peculiar tastes," he said

So, now with BTS, people have more understanding of Asian culture through their songs? It's like saying watching anime opens my eyes to Asian culture--this is weeb talk. Hell, even anime has bigger influence on Asian culture.

Also, let's forget about SE Asia, E Asia, S Asia, etc. Yup. Asia is just Korea.

It's unbelievably fucked up that I've heard more about Vcha and Madein in the context of belittling Hanni than I've seen people actually advocating for them. Nothing is going to be done for those girls despite all the attention and this is why

Nothing speaks to how fucked up kpop stans are as a collective than publicly bashing someone trying to help everyone because they don't want her to get the credit and "didn't suffer enough"

Would this be considered crab mentality at this point? "Because if Vcha and Maiden didn't get help or attention or etc. Then Hanni shouldn't?" If this is the mentality, people need to touch grass.

It's saddening that others are using their time and resources to complain about Hanni than using the Hanni situation as a leverage and template to help their own favorites.

Gross how? Both parties are on PR-overdrive or "media play" as people like to call it on this forum. NJ trying to look like angles by going to impeachment protests and crying out in media, and Hybe/Ador doing their things. Both are trying to play the media to get the public on their side. It's just how things works.

Everyone is trying to play the media. That isn't the problem. The problem is, this company has a track record of being misogynistic and often times boosting the negative and misogynistic narrative. Gossip, none evidence based, and just a gross tactic.

This company is often hired by people who have a questionable background--look more into it and you'll see.

To add, knowing your track record, you seem to side with companies more for one reason or another. So I don't think your opinion will align with mine. If you're asking in good faith, then you have my answer. If not, then 🤷‍♀️

    They're gross <X

The petition to investigate Hybe is now at 42k of 50k, with 4 days left. Today it got a big boost because Uaenas and Carats started supporting the project, if it continues getting the amount of signs it got today it would reach the 50k, but if it falls like these previous days it's going to be more complicated.

I hope more fandoms will join the petition.

How do we find the petition? And even if 50k happens, what's the guarantee that there will be an investigation? I don't really understand how this work.

I do agree with you here. While I understand her struggles and want to fight, I hope that she got permission from the other member to disclose this. Mental health is such a personal thing, and I can understand how that member may feel violated if KG did not get their permission.

I hope all the girls are doing fine and recover.

I think they'll be alright. They have a few big name brands supporting them as well as loyal fans. Their popularity may dip a little bit, but with good direction and banger performances, they'll recuperate. Also, I've been seeing articles about them in the US, so it's good marketing.

I'm sure there are casual fans in the western world supporting this but aren't chronically online (most people in the US hate CEO and big companies :eyes: )

There are many factors that lead to suicide and believe me the environment is not a trigger for it, it is mainly physiology that leads to physical instability, surprisingly there is a low suicide rate in Syria, are you saying that life in Syria is much easier than in JYP Entertainment? People should just shut up and wait for the investigation, if there really was a suicide then the police will conduct all the necessary investigations.

If genetically you're predisposed to suicidal tendencies, your environement can trigger those tendencies. Learn the Diathesis Stress model. Or gene - environement interaction.

This is a heavily researched field and multiple studies have shown environment can influence our physiology, genetics or mental health.

Syria has a low suicide rate because it's under reported. Why would families report it when there is a social and cultural stigma around it? It could bring them shame in their perspective.

Regarding suicide, well, it is not serious, a person can try to commit suicide only on the basis of a mental disorder, which does not depend on the environment, we do not know on the environment.

Please tell me I'm misreading or misunderstanding this part.

    Suicide is serious.

Mental health is influenced by a lot of factors. And your environment can influence your mental health. And an environment can even be so bad that it can change your genetics.

    Please have some empathy.

For me, it's less a concern about the effect that being an idol might have on a minor and more a concern about the credibility and ethics of the companies/people they're training and debuting with. I just don't trust the industry to not exploit them.

That's my concern too -- the companies and people can easily exploit kids. I just wish that there were more laws protecting minors.

Because minors aren't strictly necessary for singing but are thought to be necessary as actors for specific scenes in a show. (personally i think we could cast elderly as children, or perhaps just have movies pretend childhood isnt a thing and not represent it on camera but its not a widespread stance.)

I think the age of an idol can contribute to relatability. If the target audience are on the young teens, then wouldn't it be necessary or better for the idols to be around the same age? Genuine question!

I also think movies can go with older actors and just use make up/ a bit of cgi to portray kids. But then, it won't be relatable to the audience, no?
