They should at least average or at the very least close. I'm sure there are components of your job that may not be the most important ones, but still need to be at least average in order to effectively do your job. Just trying to say there needs to be a limit.
why tho? she's not a doctor or a teacher where if she doesn't have the skills she'll do some real damage. She's an entertainer. You are free not to listen to her if you don't think she meets your standards. There's dozens of other successful, talented idol groups active right now. You can just choose to follow one you like instead of trying to convince people that nobody should like the one you don't like.

One person trolling is not a license to generalize and demonize an entire fandom or demographic of people who had no part in it.
Your tribalism is far more egregious than any perceived hypocrisy. And I didn't paint my fandom as anything; I just presented the facts.
I like how mentioning one of those facts, how they was a deranged individual looking to kill the members, is somehow less deserving of outrage than thebadguy doing some shit posting.
if you have a problem with people generalising your fandom, maybe try calling out those "trolls" instead of people clapping back at them

Grow up and stop framing all conversations within the borders of your shallow tribalism. I don't have to condone shading one group in order to defend another, and outside of a couple resident Fearnots, I've been the most pro-LSF user on this forum, so when you're ready to ask rational questions you'll get rational answers.
one of the biggest tokkis here made this thread with the sole intention of getting LSF dragged, another was sure to chime in when the thread didn't get the intended response and you come here and paint your fandom as the victims, you don't get how that is hypocritical as hell?

Israel provides military and intelligence logistics to the US and UK A lot more than any other ME nation. The “War on Terror” and Syrian civil wars, which devastated millions of lives for decades wouldn’t be possible without Israel. And it’s in Israel’s interest to keep he other nations there besides Saudi Arabia in turmoil, such as Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and allegedly Iran, and in return American military industry makes immense profits and takes over oil fields. It’s win/win for US and Israel but lose/lose for families and children who have been bombed by missiles and explosives
Israel is not the reason for the turmoil in the region lol. The turmoil comes from the Saudi Arabia/Iran conflict and on a different level from the conflict between modern capitalism vs fundamentalist islam both in population and regimes. The US plays a part too but one of the biggest issues of the region is that everything is just blamed on the evil West, which means nobody holds their actual governments and people accountable. Things are never gonna change if you only ever blame an outside enemy without looking at the rot within (and that goes for every country in the world). Iran doesn't want Israel there cause it's a US ally, true. Why do you think they back Hamas and Hamas attacked Israel during talks with Saudi Arabia. Egypt and Lebanon may claim to support Palestine but they have been extremely careful not to take in any Palestinians. Unfortunately, due to a variety of circumstances, a big part of the population is simply too radicalised to be able to coexist peacefully with any government. Pretty much every country that took them in had massive issues with this.
of course it's easier to say Israel are the bad guys and if they just ceased to exist, the region would be happy rainbowland but come on, nobody actually believes that. Give the region to Hamas, all you get is increased terror attacks in the surrounding countries why else do you think are Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan all playing both sides in this.

In the United States, we don't pay for healthcare because health insurance pays for it. K-12 education is free, and homeless people still have help available. The poor are also taken care of, violent crimes don't happen here (or if they do, it's once in a blue moon in places like my area), and lots of people do use public transport.
Yeah. My area is just like yours, and I'm in the United States.
I've lived in the US and all the things I mentioned are objective facts, you can look up the stats if you don't believe me. Health insurance is heavily dependent on your job, a lot of stuff is not covered, college fees are insane and there were homeless people in all the big cities I visited. Violent, crazy ones, too. If you live in some small town obviously that won't be a problem.
it's just crazy to me that you claim there's no difference in public transport between the US and Europe...like in what universe. There were two trains a day travelling out of Miami. Two. Per day. There's two trains every five minutes in comparably large European cities. I used a Greyhound bus once and thought I was gonna get murdered for sure, both based on some of my fellow passengers and the areas these bus stations were in.

In my country I'd consider myself left-leaning centrist. In the US I would probably be called far left lol because they have no idea what actual socialism is. The Democrats are as far from Marxists as the previously less extreme Republicans. The Republicans have shifted so far to the right that I guess everyone looks like a crazy liberal who's even slightly left of that.
We have high taxes which means I don't have to pay for healthcare, education or other basic necessities. It also means our poor are still relatively well taken care of which means violent crime is very low here. The homeless population is far smaller than in the US and not a problem. Public transport is widely used, safe and convenient. I'm happy to pay for all of that with my taxes. I assume people who have that "I got mine, fuck the rest of you" attitude just assume nothing will ever happen to them to leave them unable to make a lot of money.

you mean with biden or with trump? because biden gave permission to ukraine to bomb russian territory (belgorod). it's been going on for a while. i'm just waiting for the moment when putin says fuck it and retaliate on a bigger level.
you mean Putin who's been taking territory in Europe for decades now and clearly knows the last thing Nato wants is an all out war? Why do you think he's as bold as he is? when he took Crimea people said okay, well, just appease the guy, let him have it we don't want conflict. Now he's taking more land from Ukraine and his troops have been making moves in Georgia and Moldova for ages too. Why do you think those two countries ran to apply for EU membership five seconds after Putin invaded Ukraine?
I'm consistently baffled that anyone believes the Russian "we felt threatened" propaganda. Ukraine was light years away from even being considered for Nato membership. They are no threat to Russia. The only reason they are holding them off now is because the rest of Europe is supporting them, worried how much further Putin will go if they let him get away with this even longer, or why do you think the biggest supporters of Ukraine are the rest of the ex-soviet occupied countries bordering Russia.

there's definitely a decrease in kpop interest worldwide, spotify numbers are down, youtube numbers are WAY down, sales are also way down. It makes sense to me that sales would be affected harder than spotify because this is hard money being spent, even with decreased interest people might check out music on streaming vs buying what are essentially collector's items.

people love themselves a con man, that's exactly what Trump is. He basically avoided all questions and just talked about his buzz phrases instead. They could Weekend at Bernie's Biden's corpse for the presidency and he'd make a better president than that.
If you read the transcript instead of watching them, it's shocking how much Trump just speaks with no substance whatsoever, but he knows his base will never call him out anyway.

I doubt there was any split in terms of success. Until a week ago everybody was seeing the Korean comeback as the "normal" one and the japanese single as a japanese debut, you could see it in the forum how passionate people were talking about how their comeback was flopping. The reason why How sweet/Bubble gum did worse internationally was already discussed here, I think it was a combination of several reasons with the main one being the awful rollout, you could literally see bunnies in social media not being aware of the comeback, so let alone the general public of the west who were what made their previous songs to do that well compared to the other top groups.
I don't think it was a clear divide. Even the top superfan tokkis here were saying NJ were coming back with double single albums, they'd have 4 songs in the top ten, etc. That fans weren't buying How Sweet so much because Supernatural had better album design. I had no idea Supernatural was supposed to be a Japanese debut until very recently, and if I wasn't super active online (again) I would never guess that just from listening to the song which is mainly in English.

Have to applaud MHJ's strategy for NJ Japanese debut album rollout.
Having the songs in mainly English + some lines in Japanese & Korean, do open door for receptiveness in Korea. And i heard they want to promote the songs on music show too - is this allowed? But OMG this gonna set precedent
On top of that, selling the album via Korean retail stores (with benefits) is probably the smartest move. Of course, murakami collab with the cute bags
Ps: SM please take note. HOT MESS is only available for sale in Japan - the shipping is so expensive. Why couldnt sell via korean retail stores? Even IVE also sold their japanese album via Soundwave store
I honestly think there's pros and cons to both strategies. Normally Japanese releases are just a goodie to keep the Japanese fanbase engaged and probably to see how much hardcore support the group gets there to gauge interest for a tour (that's where the real money is). So they're mostly not seen as real comebacks. The way MHJ did it, it IS a real comeback, which means more worldwide sales and streaming (after all, the songs are mostly in English, basically indistinguishable from their regular releases aside from a few lines in Japanese added to the few lines in Korean). However, as you can see with this release strategy, this then splits hype and the fanbase isn't sure what release to focus on. So you get less individual sales and streams for each release. If they had marketed How Sweet as the big comeback and Supernatural as an actual Japanese only release, How Sweet probably would have had more hype.

it's not just payola, it's casual fans too. If you look at many Hybe groups, their Bsides have really good streams too (for Kpop), even the ones that aren't pushed on any playlists.
a lot of the Western Kpop fandom came into it via BTS, MHJ pissed them off and they're not currently listening to NewJeans, it's pretty obvious. Maybe they'll win them back, fans are fickle after all and people forget scandals and all that, but it's not just a matter of company support.

Some have a more casual setting, but not in this manner. Posting straight to a personal instagram instead of a group account/youtube account.
I think you're argument is very credulous and/or naive. You are trying to obfuscate the reasons why people are quite rightly giggling at this.
It's very clear the way this is filmed, released etc - on a personal IG, the entire impression is 'oh i was just on my computer and recorded this cover, 'felt good upload might delete later xD' kind of deal. It is entirely situated to give the impression she just rattled this off recording and then uploaded to IG to share with her IG followers in a intimate, ad-hoc setting.
But it's not ad-hoc, nor is it just some self contained cover - it's been planned and processed. It's deliberate but trying to give off the impression it wasn't.
And I think you have to be incredibly naive or disingenuous to attempt to argue otherwise. That's really what it boils down to.
I'm sorry but this is just sad
how on earth are you trying to make uploading a cover excerpt into some sinister plot to trick people into...what, thinking she can sing? which she can? honestly, only in kpop.
-
There are two types of covers (generally speaking).
Ones where it's done properly, in the studio etc - where they make an effort with it. Properly edited, sound engineered - the works. Like if they're recording a song properly but it's a cover song. They're great, my fave group does it from time to time - love em. Of course everyone knows it's been done in the studio and corrected/multiple takes etc - there's no illusions there.
The other is the one where we see the idol on live, or just in a casual setting, just turning on their video of their phone and recording them singing it live and unedited. Most of those have the setting like we see in the video - casual clothes, some empty room/bedroom/space they have etc. They're all live and unedited, just a quick cover they recorded and uploaded (or sung whilst live). Many people do these all the time - just rattle off a song or part of a song whilst live streaming etc. They're always fan favourites.
The issue is - it's fine to do both, but this video has the setting of the 2nd with the sound being fixed up like the first. It's.. I wouldn't say deceptive outright, but it's clear the intention was to give off the impression of the 2nd.
So yeah, I think it's pretty amusing to be honest.
that's not true though, there's plenty of obviously processed/edited covers with a casual setting video for it. Not every cover gets a big Youtube video. If any idol other than a member of LSF had posted this nobody would have said a word. You can HEAR the processing and it's not a live video nor saying anywhere it's live. Unless you're deaf I don't see how you'd possibly be duped into thinking this is raw vocals when it's clearly not.
