Am I the only one who really loved the title track? In fact, I think it's my fave ever since Black Suit.

I swear Yoo Young Jin puts crack into his tracks, I have no other explanation to why his chokehold on me hasn't let up since 2010 ;(;(;(

(b-sides, are, of course superior, but that has been not only SuJu's but entire SM's thing since, like 2017 at the very least - they constantly keep choosing some of the more mediocre songs for titles AND I HAVE NO FREAKIN IDEA WHY).

(also, congrats fellas, yesterday SuJu recorded their highest 1st week sales in just 1 day, so it looks like they're really gonna have their best-selling album in their 16th year. haters just keep activating suju curse :clown: )

okay, Jongdae's not my favorite soloist because his music is very hit or miss with me ( ;( ) but he is my favorite vocalist (ever) and when someone talks about range - he's always the one to pop up in my head, so this one's gotta be about him.

Honestly, I'm a tad bit upset at him for keeping his solo music contained in pretty basic ballad genre (at least experiment a little dude, throw more rock and high notes in there), but as long as he's happy I'm just gonna be satisfied with the few that hit the spot for me (like love words and hold you tight) <3

Didn't SM do a project with Ktown4u not too long ago to gauge if there was a demand for old NCT albums? Considering how NCT grew in 2019-2020, it's not surprising at all that their old out of print albums sold like hotcakes when they became available.

What was surprising was that SM actually produced a new batch of them.

I wish SM did that for other old albums for other groups, as well. I think at the very least Shinee, EXO and Red Velvet albums would sell additionally around 10-30k at least for each of them.

(EXO's Overdose, The War, and several Christmas albums also sold several thousand each in the last weeks - I guess fans found an unsold batch at one of the shops, probably?

Taeyeon's last mini also surged in sales in the last week from what I've seen.

The problem is SM bases their album production on the first week - maybe a couple if fans are lucky - of pre-order and when the albums sell out, rarely produces a large additional batch again. EXO and SuJu fans have complained about this a thousand times.

NCT seems to be a turning point for them, let's hope they show this kind of energy with their other groups in the future)

Seems like we learned nothing from the Woojin scandal back in October (?)

No, most are very likely made up by bandwagon people - either fully or blown out of proportion (like Soojin's scandal. No, having an argument with someone and being told hurtful stuff isn't bullying, even if it hurt your feelings).

There might be a few who are telling the truth, but unless they actually put forward the accusations without playing anonymous - they're not credible at all in my eyes.

I learned my lesson - anonymous internet declarations aren't worth shit. I'm gonna side with the victims when they actually put themselves forward and are ready to deal with the harsh consequences.

(No, none of the idols I stan have been implicated, and I used to be bullied - being an obese bookworm teen girl won't make you beloved among classmates - so I have quite strong feelings towards the subject)

I agree with you. Digitally I think we all know he'll do great, even more if digimon like IU talk about his song/album (like she did with That's okay)

    EXO soloists never disappoint :pepe-toast:

I think Suho's success made me realize just how big of a powerhouse each one of them is, even outside of the group - since he was always perceived to be a less popular member alongside Chen.

And then he came in like a storm and firmly planted himself right at the top of solo sales along with Baek.

Damn, imagine if he gets a duet with IU, like Baek did with Bol4. Now that would be a power move.

(And then there will only be Chen x Park Hyoshin collab left to complete the digimon trifecta :-D )

    I was talking aout Kyungsoo.

I have no doubt about Chany selling power.

Kyungsoo will do great in physicals too I think, he's on of the most popular member and his fans had two years to raise funds and save up money :peperich:

Kyungsoo may not do as well in physicals as Sechan would do, but he's more popular than Suho and Suho did around 300K...

And what's more - if SM gives him a song that's to GP's liking, he'll likely perform better digitally than all of his members aside from possibly Chen, because he's one of the better-known ones among muggles.

Honestly, as long as his promotions are somewhere along the lines with Jongin's - he could do better than all of them aside from Baek (while still beating him in digitals).

...they kept him in the basement for 4 fuckin months and... for what?

if this was the "resolution" they always had in mind (out of sight = out of mind, same shit they pulled with jongdae), they could've at least send him to the army 3 months ago, or something. at least he'd have a substantial part of his service done and go back to active promotions sooner.

now they wasted his time, they wasted our time, and... for what exactly? X/

because he's a 2nd gen performer and among new-ish k-pop fans that translates to being a fossil these days X/

most of k-pop listeners didn't even check out the title track, not to mention album, otherwise it'd be at least a minor hit, because 90% of those who listened to it loved at least the duet with Chungha.

(for a good reason too, it's an amazing song and I'm mad it wasn't promoted at least as an SM station song)

Apparently, Mnet's hasn't given up on Kingdom (not that I thought they would after all that fanfare), and they actually managed to get IKon to participate.

At this point, I think iKon is seriously gonna amass the record for the "group with most survival programs".

While I do think this is a win on Mnet's part (iKon isn't a small group no matter what anyone says, even if they've taken a hit being locked in a dungeon for like 2 years now), I have mixed feeling about iKon's participation: this could propel them up again, but I think there were other things YG could do to strengthen them. Things that didn't involve another freakin survival program.

Though, it could be a good opportunity to showcase what they're all about without Hanbin.

(And, in any case, they are a much more interesting option than 2/3 of the groups people speculated about).

Any Ikonics around here? What do you guys think?

PS. Apparently, BTOB is also in talks (and considering their recent scandal they might want to utilize the opportunity). This Kingdom thing may actually participate to be Kingdom and not just mid-tier groups competing with each other.

2020 was the year of overlooked bops, wbk ||

    So whats your favorite? Hwaa?

I'm having trouble deciding between Hwaa and Moon. The entire album is so freakin fantastic, it's full of songs that would work perfectly fine as title tracks by themselves. But going with Hwaa was definitely the right choice, because it has the ear-worm quality, while being very distinctive sonically. I've had it stuck in my head since the very first listen and I've found myself humming it multiple times a day without thinking about it.

My fav is Lost (and Moon comes second)

    My two favorite b-sides!!

    Holy crap! Holy shit!

I feel like I need to preface this by saying that I'm not a Nevie. While I enjoy some of idle's music - at least to a point where I actively look forward to and check out their new releases - I'm not a stan.

And my main gripe with them was the main gripe I usually have with 90% of k-pop groups. I felt like most of their b-sides were fillers. Nice fillers, but still fillers. The only idle b-side I've ever gone back to multiple times is Maybe.

But then I Burn happened. And I'm freakin blown away. Not only is Hwaa one of their best title tracks (top-3 for sure), their entire album is amazing. It's an absolutely no-skip album for me, the one I've already put on repeat multiple times (and will continue to do so).

(Moon and Lost, to me, are especially noteworthy. And even Dahlia, which I think is the weakest b-side on the album, is still fire, specifically due to Soyeon's verse)

This album, to me, is the definition of what growth for a k-pop group should look like.

(Just... talk to me about this guys, I have a mighty need).
