companies have kind of been phasing out group positions in recent years, probably because it always lead to lots of fights among the fans.

The fans still assignment them though. While it's not really a thing any more I think face of the group is pretty easy to understand.

Take Twice for example. Tzuyu was the visual but Nayeon was the face of the group. Same for blackpink. Jisoo is the visual but Jennie or arguably Lisa is the face of the group.

In a way you could say Face of the group is basically another term for the center. But center is kind of funny too because it can specifically refer to who the group is built around or who is simply given the most center positions in choreography in spite of not having the highest popularity.

I think where the confusion came in is because so many times it overlaps because the visuals usually end up being the most popular or well known and thus become both the visual and face of the group or even the center. A single person can hold all these positions and usually does.

Sullyoon and Wonyoung are two good examples.

Damn, you guy's can't even hide your bitterness. It's not that hard to say a congratulations and move on. Just because XYZ may come along later in the future doesn't mean this isn't an extraordinary achievement worth of praise. I can only imagine how depressed you guys must be if you can never enjoy any moment of your life because you're stuck thinking about what will happen in the future. If the present doesn't matter to you then life is meaningless.

Right now this is IVE's moment and IVE's time to shine and they and the fans have every right to bask in it.

What are you talking about? I never said the Korean votes didn't matter the most. If anything they were part of the problem too and because of them Chaehyun not only made the group but was #1.

If you're talking about the part where I mentioned the anti-korean sentiment by ifans I am talking about the negative attitude they always have toward K trainees (they were like this too with the Japanese trainees in produce48) which was annoying because a lot of their choices weren't the kinds that would do well with the general public. But it was also Mnet fault for pushing those girls to begin with.

If you're referring to the parts where I mentioned a lot of the good Korean trainees being eliminated I was blaming that on Mnet's shitty elimination system.

I was word vomiting so I was just listing off a bunch of my grievances so not eveything is perfectly outlined how I mean them.

Edit: Xiaoting yes, but as for Yeseo she honestly wasn't all that tbh.

The trainee pool already wasn't that great but to make matters worse Mnet pushed all the wrong the girls, and as usual ifans started acting like they were Simon Cowell and prioritized the "talented" trainees who didn't have the visuals or charms to build a large fanbase or public recognition, ifans also made the mistake of obsessing over Chinese trainees (idk why they always have this weird anti-korean mind set every time there is a show with mix nationals it's so annoying), lots of the good Korean trainees got booted, in part because of ifans and because of mnet stupid elimination system, and Koreans for some strange reason thought that Chaehyun McBland was a good candidate for the group and god only knows why but for #1 as well.

The group that would have actually been popular with the general public had Mnet done their jobs

Gu Yi Zhou ( had NO political scandal with China and was a visual that Mnet never pushed until the very last) on top of it she had great variety sense and was talented.

The other waste was the Japanese trainee Ikema Ruan. Koreans really liked her visual as well but like Yizhou she wasn't pushed.

Bahiyiih stans gonna be mad but Guin Myah would have been a more popular pick for the wasian. Koreans actually loved her a lot and she was popular internationally as well. Yeah, she wouldn't have had Bahiyiih's huge fanbase but in this scenario, they wouldn't even have been necessary had Mnet done the job correctly.

And of freaking course, we cannot forget Yurina. She should have been in the group with Xiaoting.

These two were the Wonyoung-Yujin that never got to be.

Yurina really has the makings of a star too

But of course, "talent" won. And now there are girls in Kep1er that no one but their fans care about.

And YES. I know I sound bitter. That's the point.

Honorary mention of Chen Hsin Wei who could have been huge if not for her political statement with China. She had the makings to be a stand-out visual if not the visual of the group. She was freaking funny too.

Oh, and also that girl who had the amazing Aura until she for whatever reason butchered it with that haircut.

They did a great job! One thing about IVE is you will find lots of live singing from them even though they don't have the strongest vocals. The notes were REALLY high in some places but they still powered through. After Like has higher notes than Love Dive did.

My favorite thing about it was how she was clearly unbothered by it and kept posting up "Strawyberry this and strawberry that" but most people missed her subtle jab back at the foolishness.

True, she of course gets hate on it but not like how it would have been a non-stop barrage in the past. Knetz seems pretty chill with her for the most part. I think it's because she doesn't really stick out that much with her weight gain. She looks slightly chubbier in the face and a little in the arms but that's about it. It probably helps that aside from maybe Wonyo, all the other IVE members are kind of big-boned so they all match.

These ifans are tame. The reality check they needed was the thread here on Allkpop cause too many of y'all was spitting facts.

I support new jeans and I agree that a lot of people used Min Hee Jin to try and hate on the group but we can acknowledge two things are wrong at once. Min Hee Jin was dead ass wrong with giving the group Cookie as a song.
