its understandable tho , knowing tht korean are very conservative and traditional . Korean music service like Melon and Genie are there for so long already so why would they suddenly change to other new service (maybe due to curiousity but its not a strong reason to migrate)

also i believe that 95% of spotify korean user are urban teenagers . Just look at the list , its all trendy western celeb , BTS song , one BP and IU song . No ballad or whatsoever .

Are IU songs on Spotify Korea?

If I can remember, the fee was high compared to Melon, for example. I don't think it will be big there, BUT, anything can happen.

Melon won't end because of spotify. I remember so many ppl over here were hopeful spotify will takeover. It has a long way to go. Not having one of the biggest distributors is a huge disadvantage.

Playlisting effect can be seen easily.

We'll see if it gets better in a few months.

But, it might continue to flop hard if it doesn't help for some award shows or music shows.

Agreed. When all people around the world are using google, they still stick to their naver.

Korea already has well established music platforms...this was expected...

(Atleast at the early stage)

I think the people who use on spotify korea only use to listen to international artists. even I use spotify just for kpop and western artists. as for local music, I prefer local streaming platforms.

Yeah Spotify is more expensive compared to local services. It's 11,990 won for one subscription, 17, 985 won for a duo subscription and there's no free option.

There's no major reason for Korea to suddenly switch to Spotify, especially when the fee is alot more expensive and many Korean artists aren't available.

The service just started. We can only do proper gauging after a few months. Most new Spotify release don’t start with a big amount of streams. It grows gradually . So let’s wait and see if it’ll turn into Apple Music 2.0

In France, Spotify overtook the local platform Deezer. But it took 5 years to do so.

In my country we don't have a local streaming platform and all of our catalogue is on Spotify, so Spotify dominates.

It's not really a surprise if we look at the perspective of music platforms. There might only be a little difference in cost for subscriptions to Korean music platforms like Melon & Spotify. So, the public will not be bothered by Spotify. Even before Spotify arrived in SK, we already know what type of music the public favored.
