Have you ever watched a movie and thought....

It's always the opposite for me. Always.

The sex scenes in particular are often weird. Like there's some unwritten rule that sex has to occur at some point even if it doesn't add anything to the plot and its totally random.

There's no general rule, it depends on the movie. But yes, some movies could use a few more shock elements when their intent is to be gritty and disturbing. For example, some movies build tension up until an expected explosion of violence, yet when the outburst happens it's very lame and defuses everything the movie tried to build. In which case, it's bad.

Violence, sex, profanity... everything may have a reason to be in a movie; it just has to make sense in the context of the movie, according to what the movie is trying to achieve.

Nope. I actually think that such scenes in excess is peak lazy writing.

Maybe more violence for action movies or at least better fight choreography so it’s a 10 cuts for one punch but the rest no. I’ve never thought a film needed more sex or swearing. Sex is often unnecessary in a lot movies anyway especially as nothing significant is actually shown

I look at a movie and think it would be better without more sex. violence and swearing as there's too much these days.

not about movies

but i do think so about kdramas, specially when they try so hard to pull weird/random situations for the romantic couple to match. Cos they can`t depend on sex or scenes that are too hot (even without sex)
