An actor A (35) has been charged for operating an illegal massage parlor.

On the 24th, Chief Judge Hong Soon-wook sentenced actor A for violating Medical Act with a fine of 3 million won and ordered to relinquish 5.98 million won in profits.

According to sources in the legal community, actor A was arrested and handed over to trial on charges of operating an illegal massage parlor in Jungnang-gu, Seoul from July 2020 to March 2021 even though he wasn't a qualified masseuse. He was also charged for installing five rooms inside the parlor and offering "full body" massages for 110,000 won per hour.

According to Article 82 of the Medical Act, massage and massage services can only be performed by the visually impaired in accordance with the Welfare Act for the Disabled. Violations of this rule and operating massage parlor for profit without a masseuse license are punishable with a fine up to 30 million won or 3 year prison sentence.

Two masseuses hired by A were also found to be unlicensed with zero masseuse qualifications. Actor A ran the establishment and shared profits with the two masseurs in a 6:4 profit ratio.
