In 2019 he got hate from Wannables at their final concert for kneeling or something. This was January 2019.
Then his former company illegally signed a contract under his name and then Daniel had to file a lawsuit against them in order to leave.
For the next few months, his former company would hire people to write hundreds and thousands of false articles defaming him, trying to give him a bad look in the media. This went on and on until Daniel won the lawsuit against his company and formed his own company.
But due to his lawsuit, he was blacklisted from appearing on some Korean television channels and from getting product endorsements for some time. He only had 1 month to prepare for his solo debut.
And so in July 2019 he had his solo debut. It was fairly rushed and yet he received a huge backlash from the international kpop community for his "poor" production of his solo debut album.
Less than a month later, Dispatch revealed that he was dating Jihyo and he received hate once again. He received hate from his own fans for "deceiving" them by dating her whilst dealing with his lawsuit. People would say that he was slacking off from his debut because he was dating. Kpop fans would shame him for dating because they believed he was not good enough for her, or not on her level, or that he was too ugly for her.
Then not long after it was Wanna One's 2 year anniversary and the members had promised to meet up. But apparently, people believed Daniel did not show up and started hating him for it. He got hate for not publicly interacting with his former members after his solo debut.
In November 2019 he had his first comeback with a single. It was also awards season. He would get accused of buying the awards he won at award shows since he is a CEO, the award shows had to publicly clarify he won them fair and square. He was accused of buying his first win for his solo single when he did win fair and square and the music show had to make a public statement about it.
December of 2019 after the music show rigging accusations, he posted in fancafe opening up about his depression, his mental struggles, and his pleas for help. Concerned fans posted about it on twitter but not long after it went viral and he began to receive hate for it. People accused him of seeking attention for it, how he was faking it to cover up for his "music show rigging", how he should "be a man" and deal with it, calling him self-centered, and other vile things. Shortly after the korean news outlets released he was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder, saying how he began having symptoms in the beginning of 2019. Thereafter Daniel went on hiatus for the rest of 2019 till early 2020 and halting promotions for his first comeback.
