Yeah, most everyone is really pretty
their obsession and bragging about Charts and sales. It's still so weird to me. You ain't getting a penny of that.
Oh yeah, the level of competition and absolute obsession with numbers blew my mind. Ofc, companies push the competitive aspect because it increases emotional investment and loyalty while spurring streams, views, and sales. It's marketing and fans buy in.
I remember when my brother told me about kpop that in kpop groups there are some groups that have like 11 members, and I was thinking back then: "That sounds more like a choir."
I remember seeing the video for Call Me Baby the first time and members just kept coming and blew my mind. Ofc, i wasn't noticing that they were a lot of the same members just in different clothes lol
Strict beauty standards. I noticed proportions before when they were kinda "severe", but not like korean case that the smaller the head, the better.
Mvs quality surprised me too.

The thinness standard really did shock me. People used to talk a lot about "ant waists" and seemed perfectly dime with idols eating like a dixie cup of food to get that way...
Some of the ages
The way if someone doesn't fit into the perfection standard(no mistakes in dancing, singing, rapping etc) they immediately get hated.
But soon I learned this isn't just a kpop problem, it's a worldwide one. I only realized it once I got into kpop because everywhere else it was masked as something else.
People love perfection, and when they don't get it they get angry. I can speak from experience.

That new classy group has 13 year olds....

That expectation really is sad and it's just lead to the industry become less and less authentic. Now the vocals are so processed, we hardly ever see actual singing in live stages, and the focus for new idols is on their visuals and dance cuz those can't be as hidden as vocals...

13 year olds? I am 14 rn, never thought this day would come so soon!
I can finally say there are idols younger than me!
There were sO MaNy Of ThEm

I know, all those scandals. The saddest part is the ones that got hated and harrased still face hate even after a long time after those stupid scandals. Infact, I saw it today on the home page.
It is very upsetting, people have become so fixated on perfection that when they see realness they think it is negative and start hating and harrasing..

Oh goodness that is not good Idols who debuted at 14 were vocal about how it affected them but of course big companies seldom listen. Although didn't the kid from LOUD end up not being debuted yet because of the backlash? Maybe this company will hold on to those trainees if enough folks voice their concern
i was suprised the males wore so much makeup like it was totally normal for a guy to have like orange eyeshadow on his face ( i like tha makeup im just saying over here i never see guys wearing any kind of makeup and they love growing their facial hair like they wanna have a forest on their face since the day they were born though i know korean guys are like that too on the inside)
yes, My time has come!
Eye-
lol
the toxicity of fans. I use to listen mostly rock in the past, and sure rock fans can be toxic, but damn, Kpop fans are in other level. Also how fans make all the aspects of their lifes revolve around Kpop. Kpop take a huge part of their lifes. About idols, how little freedom they have to express themselves, their ideas, compared to western artists. Also the obssesion for numbers, but i suppose somebody already mentioned this.

I doubt they'll do anything. The group was formed from a survival show so they'll want to strike while the iron is hot.

The flowerboy aesthetic was strange for me at first too. Now I love a good eyeliner game lol

Yeah, I thought I knew toxic fans from being a scifi/fantasy nerd, but woah. Ain't got nothing on kpop lol
I had a similiar situation of not recognizing people
I didn't recognize D.O and Cha Eunwoo when I watched their dramas.
I'm just teasing and welcome to akp!

Glad I'm not alone LOL
how important music shows are surprised me too. I didn't realize how a weekly show could be so meaningful to them, especially when there are so many shows.
