I scraped the monthly cumulative ULs and aggregated the top 10. Ideally, I would've scraped the daily count, but it takes too long.
I have all the dailys UL available on guyso, can upload the dataset tomorrow.
Genie market share surprises me, they are bigger than I thought.
Melon is still the big dog, but they have been losing their near monopoly to Genie and YouTube, I assume it will get worse for them with Spotify.
Display MoreYT Chart is weekly so we'd have to look at Melon Weekly Chart to make a fair comparison.
Then again the don't update at the same time nor do they use the same weekly increments so...yeah

YT Chart mostly consists of idol songs & songs that have gone viral due to it's userbase that mostly leans younger.
So it means melon is still mostly used by the wider Korean demographic while YouTube is obviously heavily idol orientated due to a younger demo.
It's a hard one to parse what it means for melon because it could a variety of things: younger used moved on, the mass steamers moved on seeing as rise in idol numbers in YouTube which would imply previous streaming numbers in melon were inflated, it's early in the year and the only big idol hitter so far is Taeyeon so naturally there's lower streaming numbers than previous years, covid, maybe price increases/higher inflation etc
Yes you can really see the different demographics.
YouTube with more idol groups, Melon with more verity of Korean acts.
I doubt that ballad singers or Trot music singers will chart high on YouTube, but some popular acts can take over the Melon chart.
they have spotify
