War in Ukraine in a week?

  • The US and UK are the ones beating the drums of war. Zelensky stated he doesn't believe that Russia will invade and even asked the US to tone down the saber rattling which is destabilizing Ukraine's economy

lol some people here...Russia's been intimidating and making moves for years, but let's blame the US for that too, just in case. I'm not American but some people would rather blame the evil "West" for everything rather than admit their countries are fucked up too. Nobody wants war in Ukraine aside from Russia, nobody else benefits in the slightest.

Ukraine, a coup government installed by US since 2014 wouldn't be in this current mess if they honored the Minsk agreement signed to stop NATO expanding eastwards. US who has a long history of fabricating false flag operations are actively pushing Ukraine into war not Putin and it's all about Nord Stream 2. The gas pipeline which bypass Ukraine and through Germany would make European countries energy dependent on Russian gas. Uncle Sam can't have that.

    uhuh

a rather one-sided presentation of facts, but what else is new in the world of politics

  • gonna say this much: we probably gonna need a ww3 to settle the score again.

Furiously banging on wood that it doesn't happen but then again we're all just going to end up playing the blame game and false flag ops on both sides to get the other to fight and regret fighting after.

It'd be cool if the major powers expanded and made a moon war or an interplanetary war. That way it'd be more interesting to watch.

Though the "rods from god" does sound like a terrifying prospect.

    Nato can’t have that…

lost me after the installed part - yikes

  • If it was up to me, I would put "drills" on the west and south west of it.

Send about 100k troups and they would shit themselves.

Putin is counting on numbers, not actual military power.

Also Belarus, why is that country allowing them to invade them under the pretense of army games?

    Politics are so stupid...

  • The thing is though…the user mentioning the freaking gasline is right.

1: Europe stops paying for gas

    2: Russia stops the gas

Europe is fucked. All we can hope for is US having a bigger crisis somewhere to take care off. And takes UK with them.

40 % of gas used in EU comes from Russia. We have massive economical investments in Russia.

superpowers. All the same. It’s about power and economics. Stop thinking US is better than China or Russia.

And now enter the info war and propaganda. It’s Cold War rhetoric right now. Ukraine wants in Nato. Russia don’t want that.

Kiev is now targeting ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine. Putin is calling this a genocide. If things escalate/Minsk II fails to implement, Russia is likely to send troops into Donbas to defend Russian separatists and Putin will eventually recognize Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics. This gives US the green light to impose their long awaited sanctions package, finally killing off Nord Stream 2 (the gas pipeline which American lawmakers view as a threat to US hegemony/US dollar dominance.) These sanctions would push Russia further away from Europe and into the arms of China solidifying their newly announced strategic/economic alliance against the West. Energy prices will skyrocket and European nations who are already being battered by inflation would suffer the most. US will move in to supply gas to Europe. US warhawks can then pressure a weak, American energy dependent EU to fight alongside them in their New Cold War against Russia/China. Ukraine is just a geopolitical pawn for the US to undo NS2.

  • The real problem is that Europe is weak. European leaders are divided and are all incompetent. Only Europe can solve the problem.

They only have to do two things :

    1. Explain to Russia, that the former soviet countries are part of europe and that threats against these countries and interference must stop immediately and that all European countries will go to war if this is not respected.

    2. Explain to USA, that what happens between Russia and Europe concerns only Russia and Europe. They are not at home and are not concerned by this story. They don't belong there, they have to take their bases and their soldiers and go home or they will suffer the consequences.

  • Wishful thinking.

This will never happen. UK are with US and we have no superpowers.

We don’t want to impose embargo on Russia as they will just cut the already expensive gas.

We can’t go against US because of Nato.

Pretty much fucked. Damned if we do damned if we don’t.

I hate all this is because of money.

  • I'm not a US fan at all but it's so worrying how many people here are parroting war propaganda from other sources without critical reflection. You can question US politics, but Russia is 100% telling the truth about their motives?

they're essentially claiming they don't "want" to attack but alas, sadly they "don't have a choice" because the evil opposing powers are making their own moves, oh what a shame. Seriously guys, this is invasion tactics 101. Gotta sell it to your own folks, oh we just did it bc they had weapons, oh we just did it to protect our people from the evil XY, etc. The US does this too, sure, but how can you recognise it with them but not your own countries? they're all the same.

So Putin officially recognized Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics after shelling intensified. This chess move by Putin is posturing as he seeks to extract security concessions from the West. The ball is now in Biden's court. Will Biden show strength to call off the upcoming meeting with Putin and does he have the balls to sanction NS2? Russia has yet to invade Ukraine so there's still room for diplomacy. However time is running out.

UPDATE: Biden responds by sanctioning the breakaway regions. Putin can smell weakness.
