    Summary:

    1. K-pop is over saturated with awards

    2. Fandoms tend to be exclusive and don't support multiple acts, leading to Kpop groups also not showing open support of each other - see #3.

    3. Groups(companies) attend awards only if they are awarded or get to perform, fighting for being the closing act, but otherwise don't show up to support each other, unlike with movie or TV award shows.

  • did they lie?

    1. is definitely true, feels like there's an award show every other week during award show season.

2 is true as well, there have been multiple instances of "pureblood" fans vs multis.

3 I kinda...disagree with? It's not like these groups are the ones choosing to go there, more like the companies sending them. But yeah otherwise I don't see one lie

  • 3. Groups attend awards only if they are awarded or get to perform

i'm sorry but it's the dumbest thing they could say, i don't understand how it's a bad thing

idols have some crazy Schedules, with no time to rest they really thought they would come to an award show just to say hello and show their face, when they could just stay at home and rest

of course they'll not come if they are not awarded or don't perform, they have better things to do than just coming, sit on a chair for 3hours and then go back home for nothing

#3. Well in this context - Groups-idols-companies are synonymous.

  • 1. Too many award shows is a regular complaint among kpop fans.

    2. A point was made. Stan culture is weird because most people who watch the Grammys are cool with most of the performers. K-Pop stans tend to act like they're physically dying if they have to watch someone other than their faves perform.

    3. I agree to a point. There are plenty of award shows over here where people perform if they're nominated even if they aren't going to win (like Grammys), but it is a little bit harder for musicians to just attend award shows when touring is happening compared to actors.

Well that can be an excuse for every celebrity,

Except that sports people, movie/tv people and others don't seem to mind spending few hours 'sitting' to support their colleagues or their industry in general.

  • Also the too many award shows argument... that applies to more than just kpop. Most of the award shows in the US are unneeded. Like the whole reason the American Music Awards exist is because ABC lost the broadcast rights to the Grammys so they invented an award show so they could still feel special and don't get me started on the fact that there are three different country music award shows.

Hello??? Year-end award shows are supposed to give exposure and potential new fans what are you on?!!!you can say the same thing about music shows when groups attend 6 shows with a long promotion and some barely win. But companies still send them. Plus award shows are usually happening only in the ends of the year, I’m sure group have the time to book at least one.

and what's the point of your comment quoting me exactly ?

My comment literally say that gaon people are stupid to make it sound like it's a bad thing that idols come to award show only if they are awarded or get to perform, and my entire comment is about how it's dumb to make it sound like it's a bad thing, and it's obvious that they'll not come just to say hello and sit to do nothing the entire show with their busy schedules

so your comment makes absolutely no point, so what are you on ????

    it's really different

Actor, and tv people doesn't have schedules as busy than Kpop idols

you often see actors take months of break between 2 jobs + if you notice actors are going less to variety show or radio show

meanwhile Idols are going from one project to another one without taking any break, they record an album, film a mv, promote in music show, then they have overseas schedules, they have to train, then they have to tour, do interview, variety show , then they'll have to film their own content because now tons of idol upload some fan content on youtube .....

  • I really don't agree with the 3rd point. Idols don't rest unless It's for a few days. When they are not promoting a comeback or touring, they are recording songs, filming videos/variety content, practing. If the group produce their own songs and/or make their own choreographies are one more work to do. Their routine and schedules are crazy, so It's unnecessary and unfair to stop it or their resting for being sitting in chairs for 5-6 hours for nothing. The groups that are performing will have other acts attending, their fans and other groups' fans watching them, Isnt it enough?

Is it "unfair" to have crazy killing schedules, or "unfair" to have them relax at an award show with their colleagues? - that is a matter of perspective.

And it is improbable to assume that all idols are busy during all award times - some would be, some would not be. So the "busy" excuse does not hold as a trend.

Then it is a matter of priorities.

And then culture- fandoms so toxic, that they do Black oceans to other, disgustingly cheer on seeing their faves, even though someone is giving a somber speech about the death of an idol (IU at GDA 2018 etc), making it 'sensitive' for idol groups to ignore such rivalries.
