Clarification on Ningning controversy

  • Facts:

Ningning comments cheering on Chinese winners were not only positive to all countries’ athletes but also were made completely about other program before the controversy broke.

Her Bubble messages date was literally before the Speed Skating controversy happened. It’s hard to believe reporters writing articles missed her message date, other positive messages and only reported one after the rage to mislead.

Not to mention her comment was something like “I heard they got a gold medal..happy” so she wasn’t even watching the Olympics events herself but simply congratulating after hearing some news.

Besides saying she was happy for the winners, Here is all what Ningning said on that day on Bubble that happened before the Olympics controversy (again not congratulating the controversial speed skating but her bbl happened days before. I feel like some people need to be told this info twice because they keep ignoring it) :

    - my teacher told me just now that the two olympic champions are alumni, so it’s a great honour 🥲🎊 every athlete deserves respect 💜

    - all of the athletes are really amazing 💜

    - i think the athletes from all over the world are working really hard and are amazing ㅠㅠㅠ 🤧🤍 fighting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    - all the people on earth are one family

  • i hate how this whole situation just revolves around the fact that certain people can't stand someone congradulating a team. it just shows how narrow-minded some people can be, really. ?(

Changed the title of the thread from “Why Did AKP Make Headlines of Wrong Info?” to “Ningning”.
  • It's not saying that she said that they didn't cheat it's reporting on the reaction some people are viewing it like that and that's how akp reported it.

Others are the ones getting their facts wrong which is causing the controversy.

So not sure why you're blaming akp

I was just pissed because her other Bubble messages that are praising all countries were totally ignored by Korean articles AND then AKP too. I just wished it got more exposure but the AKP blaming is not right I guess. So I edited it.

Changed the title of the thread from “Ningning” to “Clarification on Ningning controversy”.
  • I'm sad that she's suffering a lot of hate for a harmless comment, and people still wonder why some idols don't communicate with fans and are less present in social media.

  • knetz just looking reasons to hate her because she's chinese especially with korea and china high tension nowadays

SM hasn't do anything except deleting ningning bubble message, they should combat with bubble leaks and paying dispatch to making clarifications for her :pepe-life-support:

south korea and china doesn't have high tensions they both good atleast in business point of view

  • south korea and china doesn't have high tensions they both good atleast in business point of view

OH BOY IS THERE A LOT TO UNPACK

so I won't mess up and try to explain so there are a few points that I'd like to highlight

    1. There's a surprising amount of c-nets that believe that china and SK are still technically "at war" or were historic opponents because of the Korean war. Lots of vitriol are naturally directed at chinese idols who held concerts for the South Korean army. "Dancing for the enemy" and such.

    2. South Korea is very much aligned with the US in terms of economy and international policy -- and naturally china sits on the opposing side. (not much tension here but its just a general abrasion) but more importantly, China backs NK and NK is NK. A local oppressive regime that constantly threatens violence. (still general abrasion)

    3. I've noticed that there are long rap sheets of chinese cultural appropriation of Korean culture. I'm not sure if all of them are valid but the usual chinese response to that was "well korea was originally part of china; therefore all of korean culture is technically chinese" (facepalm) but then again there are a lot of false alarms that koreans still blow out of proportion and attack culture/language for being cultural appropriation when it in fact has nothing to do with appropriation.

(one good recent example: PaoCai is an umbrella term for any kind of pickled vegetable. In korean culture apparently it refers to a specific pickled vegetable dish from china and they thought that using paocai to refer to kimchi in china was cultural appropriation. There is next to no other ways to refer to kimchi in chinese other than tacking hanguo in front of it to designate it being from korea. -- also the suggestion for shinchi be used is--- welll there aren't any good words in the chinese language to meaningfully match up with "shinchi")

    4. Both sides have derogatory terms for each other on the level of the N-word.

    5. From what I hear, especially high school/ school-age chinese are willing to just let loose without a shred of regard for voracity, cultural sensitivity, or even general dignity.(THAT IS NOT TO SAY THAT ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE THAT, JUST THE ONES THAT ARE PROBLEMATIC)

Business wise, well, money definitely smooths things over. "money makes the world go around" as it were.

  • that's why i said atleast in business point of view. chinese and koreans may be didn't like each other same as chinese and japanese, chinese and indians too but atleast korean gov still mingle with chinese gov unlike both japan and india who openly war with china
