I don't live where this house is located, but this would be considered an average, middle-class house near me. No one would see it and go "that's a really nice place they have" or go "ewww, wouldn't want to live there".

When I think of an American Dream house, I think of the beautiful house from the movie Father of the Bride that I saw when I was a kid. It was on a street with gorgeous mature trees and there was a tree lawn and I really wanted to live like that.
Apparently the house exists in Pasadena and it sold for over $2M about five years ago.

but to be fair i live in a wealthier neighborhood so houses in other areas look a bit diffrerent

it reeeallllyyyy depends on where you live. esp where i am because there are so many different houses, i just went with what it looks like in my area. where i am its either you have a big house or you have a small one, otherwise you don't really see "nice" smaller homes for lower middle class. but im just speaking from my dad's experience and what he's told me since he came here.
Our attached housing usually was built more horizontal than vertical so the individual homes wouldn't have stairs on the inside, but the people upstairs have to use outdoor stairs to access their units.

That Spanish bungalow is beautiful! I tend to like cottage houses - Tudor or French style, but for me location is more important. I want to live in Carmel-by-the-Sea!

Father of the Bride house is located at El Molino Ave in Pasadena, and I pass it a few times on the way to work. All the houses near that area are over 1.5 million-plus.
FYI, Mr. & Mrs. Smith house is only a few blocks away even more beautiful.

My backyard takes the entire day to mow 
Most properties have smaller yards than mine but still big enough for a garden, playground, pool, or whatever else you'd want to do with them
Typical lot sizes for new homes in developer planned subdivisions is like 5000-7000sf. Lots of newer neighborhoods looks like this

I like that neighborhoods like that seem so walkable. We need cars to get everywhere here. I wish we had more mixed use areas with units above retail and then maybe rowhomes a block over and then different types of housing surrounding a central district.

That's true. Absolutely everything is within walking distance. It's a 5 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, there are dentists, family doctors, several bakeries.... Even a shopping center is less than 20 minutes away. No need for a car.
