is it good for a kppp group to comeback too often ?

  • Kpop groups make money from a small poll of customers called stans

The idea behind of coming back often is to never leave their stans bored and milk them as much as you can until the same stans get bored or drop the group over some stupidity dating scandal or just because a new crush debuted in a new group

  • I think 2 is a good number for a comeback. If you come back too often people will know what to expect, that's why some groups barely have comebacks because they want to build that mystery and hype for what they're gonna do next.

  • Too many comebacks reduce hype, lower per album sales, burnout fans and overwork idols.

4+ comebacks a year is brutal on any group considering the level of pre release work that goes into each comeback behind the scenes already, nevermind promoting it.

Just look at how physically and mentally taxing something like 2018 was on Twice when they had 3 Korean comebacks, 3 Japanese comebacks and a fan song at the end of the year. No group or fandom is built for that kind of schedule and almost exclusively benefits the companies bottom line and nothing else.

There's a reason 99% of groups don't work that hard each year and favor 1-3 comebacks.

  • But twice manage to do well on 2017 with all 4 comeback tho . Its a back to back hits isnt and sales keep increasing for each comeback ?

Yes and all of their songs did well in 2018 too. Candy Pop got multiple certs, WMU went double plat, 3 number 1's in Korea YoY getting a PAK and DTNA/YOY/WIL all garnering 2.5m and 100m certifications.

But that doesn't change the fact that it's difficult for fans to fully invest in era's, save up money, buy all merch and album copies, etc when a company is asking you to fork out 50-100 bucks every couple of months. Not all groups can do that and in fact some have tried to have multiple comebacks close to each other only for songs to flop or under perform or to see an enormous drop in sales.

Not to mention it also i so so physically and mentally taxing on the group. That crucible of 2017, 2018 and even 2019 not only took a massive toll on Twice members but the fans too. It's just hard to be invested 24/7 12 months of the year with almost no breaks.
