western fans discovered kpop in the late 2000's. maybe that's the implication Drew_B is making.

I discovered about Super Junior around 2009-2010. They were the only k-pop group I knew, a lot of teens used to talk about them in my country, but I didnt see the same buzz around other groups

jk probably in like 2010 but I didn't care about it, only started listening to it in 2018

2012 because of Kids React to Kpop

2009 with 'Lollipop'. Discovered the song by accident through a pokemon amv. Watched the actual MV of the song and made me stay away from kpop for solid 8 years before I actually got into kpop because of BTS in 2017.

So now I'm wondering, what was the reasoning behind 2007? If you're going to pick a year from that time period, why not choose 2004, which saw the debut of TVXQ and thus marked the start of the Second Generation?

It seems like you and I are one of the few here who have known about K-pop since the 1990s.

I was 10 and completely in love with BoA.

Super junior sorry sorry in 2009 because of my uncle and he liked sj and 2ne1. But I didn’t personally discover Kpop till 2010 a year later with snsd. I would casually check out Kpop songs throughout the years but didn’t actually stan a group until 2013 with bts
