These songs were performed in one of the biggest Asian games opening/closing ceremony in Asian Games 2006 in Doha (the same country that will host the world cup 2022)

(searching for these made me remember what an amazing opening ceremony it was, we gathered at my grandma house to watch lighting the cauldron and how excited we were to watch all these performances from different countrie)

This was the main song for the Asian Cup 2011 (it's one of my favourite, because they talked about Asian culture and they said "hello/welcome" in all language in Asia

  • Well....that's disappointing. Afaik, Lady Gaga is bi right? Even if not she's been a strong ally to the community for years. But Qatar has an abhorrent and draconian stance on LGBTQ+ rights. Even the attempted media play in the years since they were awarded the cup hosting rights, saying they want an 'all fans welcome' policy is pathetic when it's followed up with the caveat that as long as it's 'private' and in a country where active homosexuality is still met with criminal charges.

It's a massive disappointment to me to see queer representative celebrities...I don't know, fucking selling out and doing a world cup song for a country that would throw em in jail if they were regular citizens.

I hope in the ceremony they go off script and make a statement about Qatar's disgusting human rights breaches and show the spine Uefa couldn't this Summer in Germany.

UEFA had nothing to say especially in Russia or Azerbaijan

as for lightning stadium in Germany it was just a illumination, it's not like

x or y group of people can go and say hey you... light up the stadium this or that way

it's not like 'straight' people broadcasted their illumination instead... it was just random color like always...
