At least in Korea? Mnet used their usual tried and true idol survival show formula this time around so shouldn't it have been a huge success?
Meanwhile SYF produced great ratings, a ton of viral clips and moments, a very viral Hey Mama dance challenge, and Mnet is already planning a spin-off. Why are more people more interested in a dance competition 
Because all the fans that would normally tune in for this show got screwed over big time by Msnake and Starshit. The sudden, devastating disbandment of Izone, when everyone had already predicted that they would be extended, i think really destroyed Msnake's brand. Plus the terrible timing of the show, within two months of the PUP project's closure, with all the anger and grief still boiling up inside the very same demographic that would be needed to support this show and group...just plain terrible decisionmaking by Msnake.
The past few weeks i've spent just casually reading these GP999 threads, and all i can think is - "Did Msnake really blow up Izone for THIS???? What in the everloving hell were they thinking???"
SWF is entertaining.
Because GP999 is a terrible survival show and WSF is way more entertaining. Plus with all the rigging scandals I’m not surprised Korea isn’t tuning in.

And after watching the show people see the charms and talents of other teams as well.
I watched it for Chaeyeon and grew to love all the teams. My favourites (besides WANT) are Lachica and Holy Bang.
Lachica is so funny and they are so freaking talented. It's from this show that I went to search them and found out they choreographed so many amazing dances like Chungha Stay Tonight (fking masterpiece), CLC Helicopter etc.

It’s a combination of the rigging controversy, SWF being something more fresh and GP999 concept being shit.

I feel like after the rigging controversies, not many tuned in to GP999 cause what's the point? You vote only for Mnet to rig
Plus the only real survival shows that have fans is the Produce series, maybe the 5th installment will do better than this but I doubt it
+ SWF is a fresh concept and its interesting
I am not comparing cos I don’t really watch the other show but the reason I watch SWF is bcos it’s very entertaining and refreshing. The women in the teams competing are very empowering to me.
